Something did not taste like the way made in the US. I think it may be the mozzarella cheese. Needs some improvement.
I've been to Munchies once and if I was really craving pizza while in the Caribbean I would probably return. Let me start by saying that, when asking around about where to go for some good pizza, most people suggested this place to me. And they followed it up by saying the ingredients were imported (such as the cheese). Because if you have ever been to DR, you would know that many of the dairy products are completely different that in the US. Ok, so I went here in a group of 6 on a weekday evening. There are 2 floors of sit down dining so we opted for the upper level since it was empty at the time. The bottom floor was pretty full as far as seating goes. The appearance of the place is decent. There were tv's upstairs that were not functional because apparently people had stolen the remote controls. Also, there are doors that lead out to "2 seater" seating area....and this means they are open all day and night....and there are many mosquitos. I was bitten at least 5 times while eating. Now, I know the deal, this isn't my first rodeo, but it's very uncomfortable to eat and have to wave off mosquitos. I definitely think they need to invest in some type of repelent device in order to make the patrons more comfortable. Moving on ............... We ordered 2 pizza's. One large pepperoni and one medium, half ham, half cheese. Not having been there before I wasn't sure if this would be sufficient enough for 6 people so I wanted to order 2 large but the waiter was honest (very surprising in this area) and he said the large and medium were more than enough. The order took about 30 minutes to finish which I felt was much too long for pizza. There were 3 kids with us and 30 minutes is not acceptable. Nonetheless, the food arrives and it is visually pleasurable. I tried a slice of ham and a slice of cheese. Both are good and taste exactly like a Boston or New York style pizza. There were 3 children and 3 adults and after everyone ate, were were able to take 3 slices home so the waiter made a good and economical call for us. Time to pay ..... so the prices are fair because the pizza's are very large. The 2 with a 2 liter of soda were about 900 pesos which is equivilent to $18 dollars. American style food with American prices. I handed the waiter my debit card and they do not accept debit. Only cash .... which was very, very inconvenient. And I will now say why even though it's an ugly fact: Santiago and many parts of Dominican Republic are not safe. Carrying cash around is very unsafe. The best way to go is with a credit card or debit and an ID. If you're a tourist or even look like you may have money, you're chances or becoming a target have increased significantly. I have been traveling to DR since 1999. I love it there and was living there .... but facts are facts. I was robbed twice at gunpoint so I'm speaking from experience. They should implement a POS or at least install a small ATM machine in the location. Thankfully there was cash on hand, we paid and left. Parking .... there is street parking only and again, we were there on a night that was not busy but I hear the place gets packed so the chances of you having to park far away should be expected. The neighborhood isn't bad, it's right near the very touristy Calle de sol and there's police around but it's best to take the extra time to circle around and park as close to the place as you can.

I just simply love this place! The Italian food is just outstanding! My fave spaghetti aioli in the whole world are in this small, not fancy but very quaint place! My favorite pizza is the "Vanesa"pizza with Italian sausage, Peperoni and blue cheese...the best! Risottos are also Yummi! I like the shrimp and pear and the sausage and four cheese is always a must at my table! The waitresses are very friendly and the service is always very good! Highly recommended!

Had a very nice lunch in this restaurant. I was pleased with the atmosphere- it was nicely decorated, chairs were comfortable, music wasn't too loud. Service was great, and the food was delicious. I had the Italian sausage entrada and the porcini risotto.
