Restaurants in Rheinfelden

Mit Sahne, also nix indisch. Rotwein grauenhaft und warm...

Taken by the outside signage with Italian flags, we thought to get Italian cuisine, but no! Thanks God we only ordered a pizza napolitana and a salad. The pizza was not bad, but the salad came with a creamy sort of French dressing. The place is ok when and if you are very hungry.

We love to come here after a morning at Solo Uno. The pizza rösti are so good and unlike any other rösti that we have had in Basel! Service is warm and kind- the beer is cold and reasonably priced. Very cozy dining room in the winter or terrace seating in warm weather.

Considering: a very welcoming service, big portions, good quality and price under control ....it makes evident that this is the tipe of restaurant where I want to become a n habitual costumer. My pizza was easy to digest, and thus done with good ingredients. Let's hope they'll continue this way.

We visited this restaurant after a day we spent in spa. We were starving and all of us ordered pizzas. We asked for rocket and cheese salad, which they didn't have on the menu. They made the salad for us without any problem and it was amazing. The pizzas tasted great as well and prices were just accurate.

This little gem gets its name from the picturesque 19th century water tower that sits across the street as the recognized landmark of the town, where it now houses a "Fool's Museum" displaying clown costumes and other memorabilia from, of course, the "Fools Guild" of the region. My wife had given a talk at the university in Basel and we took a trip across the river to visit some friends. On the way, we chanced to stop in at this marvelous Italian pizzeria and restaurant in the unlikely location of Reinfelden. I didn't expect much but the place was pleasant enough inside and the staff was friendly so I sat down and ordered a quattro stagioni pizza. After a short wait, I was served up with a delightful surprise--it was loaded with fine ingredients and perfectly done! I'm from Chicago, I've spent a lot of my professional life in New York, I frequently travel to Italy and, not least, I'm a real pizza lover--from deep dish to stuffed, from traditional Neapolitan pies to the best thin crust to be found in Brooklyn or New Haven, I live for the stuff! As a consequence, I like to think I have the necessary experience to evaluate a good pizza and THIS was a GOOD pizza! It was done perfectly, top and bottom, all the way to the center, the toppings were generous and of the highest quality, the crust was perfect, with just enough snap and just enough chewiness, and the edge had a wonderful but not overdone bit of charring from the oven. It was just great! I have no doubt that the home made pastas and other entrees are just as good (I saw a Florentine steak as big a a Buick come out of the kitchen) but I was out for pizza, that's what I got, and that's what I recommend, here. And, much to my delight, with my pizza the server plunked down a bowl of homemade Giardiniera, which is a condiment I associate more with my Chicago youth than an Italian restaurant in Europe, but it really hit the spot and complemented the pizza marvelously. There is a wonderful wine list, here, with lots of affordable Chiantis that are perfect for such a meal, and with a healthy sprinkling of higher end stuff for that steak. The staff was extremely friendly and drawn from every corner of Italy, from Calabria to Umbria, and they have brought some family secrets with them. Chef Gabriele D'Addario (and he deserves that title, having won cooking prizes in his home country) is from the Pescara region of Abbruzo. This place is the real deal. So, if you're across the river in Basel, and if you've already been dazzled and bankrupted by an exquisite meal at Cheval Blanc (as I was), here is something just across the river at the other end of the economic scale, maybe one-twentieth as much per person, but just as perfect of its kind. A great pizza place in Reinfelden? Who knew? Bravo Chef D'Addario!
