Porto Empedocle (Sicilian: Marina) is a town and comune in Italy on the coast of the Strait of Sicily, administratively part of the province of Agrigento. Our bakery is very old. It was born in 1960 and has been handed down from father to son. We are a family who work with passion to satisfy our customers. We produce bread baked in a wood oven and typical Sicilian products: from biscuits to "arancini"(fried
So far only tried the bread and some pastries. Will be back for more. I see they do pizza and arancini in the evenings. Very nice lady serving who explained all the different things on offer. Little pastries filled with fig or candied zucca were very nice so was the saffron bread.
Best Italian Sizilien cousine from pasta to pizza, seafood to vegetarian. Great for kids and large crowds. Extremely welcoming, accommodating and high in achieving 1a standard in kitchen. Family run business. You won't regret. They don't speak English or German, but was no problem whatsoever! Great as stop from Palermo to Argento or vice versa.

We were staying in a beautiful airbnb a 2 minute drive from here. We were told there was ânothing within walking distanceâ by our host but we found this restaurant was a 20 minute walk. We are avid walkers and rack up thousands of steps where ever we go. However the roads to get here were not suitable to walk on AT ALL. We felt very foolish and looked stupid. I would only recommend driving here even if it is only a 10-20 minute walk from where you are staying. We got porchetta to start to share. Which was absolutely divine. Soft and meaty, yet crunchy crackling in thin ribbons.I then went for a diavola pizza (spicy salami and Gorgonzola cheese) which was perfect. There was much more interesting things on the menu but I just wanted a homemade fresh pizza! My partner had a pasta dish with bits of soft delicious meat in (our translation app said wild boar, but I thought it was beef!). This was so well cooked and extremely tasty. We then both had a cannolo for dessert, which was a âdeconstructedâ cannolo but absolutely delicious. We had a bottle of wine, lemoncello, beer also and the bill came to just over â¬50 so we were very happy with this price. Our Italian leaves a lot to be desired, and this is clearly a local place as we were the only English in. The waiters had good humour with us and we managed to communicate with them no problem. We even returned the next night for a takeaway pizza to share by our villa pool as we had enjoyed it so much and were SO exhausted after a wonderful day :)

One of the two best eating choices during our Sicily journey. Very friendly atmosphere, warm welcome, perfect service, everything with excellent taste. One piece of advice, if I may, be really hungry because all portions are enormous. Everything was tasty but, although we tried, it was absolutely impossible to empty our plates! Really pity, since the food was excellent. If you are visiting Agrigento that's your place to eat!

I'm sorry I cannot share other enthusiastic reviews of Pizzeria Empedocle. I used to live in Italy for several years and ate many great pizzas. But this one wasn't one of them. My pizza was at best average (quite tasteless to be honest) and the one chosen by my partner was only marginally better. On a positive note the staff was friendly, prices low and the place very spacious.

After sharing an average starter, my wife and I both had varieties of seafood pasta. The small portions appeared to contain langoustine in one and king prawns in the other, but this proved to be just decorative heads, with no actual meat. The manager explained that the meat was cut very small and was in the sauce. It was not discernable, so it seemed we paid â¬10 each for a small portion of pasta in tomato sauce.Le abbiamo illustrato come avviene la preparazione del piatto che lei ha consumato interamente . Non capisco perché ha espresso questa opinione ,( sbagliata secondo noi).

We had dinner here one night in early August. It was still really warm and we were looking for a restaurant with tables outdoor. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of the food at the Trattoria Ritrovo. Among the four of us, we had a selection of the dishes that were on offer, from fish to meat, pasta and pizza. Everything was delicious and the dinner was great value for money.

Ok so first of all I would like to start by saying how much I loved the location and the environment created by the young, kind and customer-oriented staff. I really enjoyed our stay and we suggest everyone who want to come to Porto Empedocle to first have a walk during the sunset and then come to Scià lo! Their pizza is a MUST and the prices are unbelievably low!A friend and I ordered 2 of their special pizzas, âChi nicchi e nacchiâ (creamed zucchini, provola cheese, burrata cheese, speck, 9,00â¬) and âSciavurusaâ (mozzarella cheese, pistachio nut pesto, mortadella, pistachio nut grains, 8,50â¬). Since we have travelled and eaten in a lot of places together, we believe we can say that these two pizzas were the best pizzas we had in Sicily so far!! We could also look at the pizza chef while he was preparing our pizzas, from our table!! I can only use a word to describe Greta and Francesco: AMAZING!! We just left their pizzeria with a smile on our faces (and with our belly full of good food and wine, of course!)

The restaurant - pizzeria Marco Polo, set in the splendid scenery of the waterfront agrigentino, it leans out on the enchanting sea of St. Leo. He/she offers a vast menù enriched by dainty dishes to the most demanding clients.
