I hardly ever hand out five star reviews, so let me just qualify this by saying first of all that the pizza itself is maybe 3 stars at best. Sammy may be Italian but his pizza is not. I'm giving Sammy and his mediocre pizza five stars because the night we stopped in was one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had at a pizza place, such that I would recommend anyone who is driving by Oglesby IL to take an hour away from the highway to bask in something truly unique. Our story began the day after Christmas when a group of 8 of us were heading south after a few solid hours at the curling rink. (yes you heard me, curling, it's awesome!) We randomly selected a pizza place that was on the drive home and called ahead to order. The voice on the other end was heavily accented and had a thick gravelly timbre fine tuned through years of heavy smoking. We arrived fifteen minutes later to a small building with a lazy sign indicating this was Sam's Pizza. The inside of the building looked like it hadn't seen a renovation since it was built in 1975. The menu, which consisted of Pepperoni, Sausage and Supreme was displayed on one of those old church style bulletin boards and had presumable sat up there unchanged since the aforementioned renovation. The only drinks to be had in the place could be bought with quarters out of an old vending machine. We all grabbed seats while one of our party went up to the counter to inform Sam we had arrived and asked when our pizza's would be ready. He returned to our table to tell us he couldn't understand a word Sam was saying but it appeared there were pizzas in the oven so maybe they were ours. Some time went by during which we all placed bets on when the last time the "dining area" had been cleaned and whether or not there were plates and utensils even in the building. Other patrons began to arrive and two things became immediately clear: everyone knew Sammy like he was some kind of local legend, and no one dined in, ever, except for us of course. After about thirty minutes we started getting restless and we again sent a representative up to the counter to query about our pizzas. Again he came back without any real idea of what Sammy had said but it appeared that Sam was cooking something back there. A few minutes later the acrid tang of cigarette smoke came wafting out of the kitchen. We all looked at each other with a mixture of incredulity and hilarity as we joked about Sammy back there smoking cigarettes over our pizza. Maybe no one told him you can't do that anymore, or maybe they did and he just couldn't understand them or maybe he just didn't care. Finally after nearly an hour of waiting our smoking hot mediocre pizza was ready. We set it down on the table and asked Sammy for some plates. He didn't have any, as we had speculated, but did produce some circles of cardboard I assume came with the packages of cardboard boxes or maybe with the dough. We devoured our pizzas and then paid for them leaving Sammy a nice tip. He seemed grateful and gave us a cheap baseball cap with the Sam's Pizza logo on it, ensuring we would forever remember that one Christmas when we went curling and stopped at Sam's Pizza. I highly recommend stopping in, but don't expect to get good service or even good pizza, instead expect to get a great experience and a lifelong memory.

The PlaceAngelo's is located in Spring Valley, Illinois right off St. Rt. 6 by St. Margaret's Hospital. This is a nice family operated and family centered business. This restaurant is larger than it appears from the street with ample lot parking. There are both tables and booths available with a large dining room for private parties and main dining room overflow. This restaurant is modern, clean, and well maintained. The Food/MenuVery full menu to chose entrees and appetizers. We have heard great things about their pizza and sandwiches but were focused on fish this evening. We ordered broiled Cod, with a healthy salad, baked sweet potato, and mixed vegetables. For our other entrees we ordered garlic and herb crusted Tilapia, with baked potato, a healthy salad, and Our meals came with very generous portion sizes and were excellent. The Service/Value/ExperienceOur server was friendly and efficient!! We found the prices to be very fair for the value presented. We had a great experience and look forward to trying several different entrees and of course the pizza. Highly recommend.
If you haven't heard about caseys yet you will. There are currently over 1700 locations in the central part of the United States and growing. They are know for their pizzas (taco and breakfast pizzas are tops) and donuts but the new bigger stores make their own bread for their own freshly made to order sub sandwiches. This is what a gas station is supposed to be. They have tables to eat there and they deliver pizza.......did I mention how good their pizzas are? It's location is off of Interstate 39 or 80 and a mile or two into La Salle on Route 6. if you've never been to one give it a try especially this location.
we were staying at the koa nearby and had pizza delivered. the pizza was "okay" - they call it thin crust but it was more carboard style to me - we ordered 4 different vegetable toppings but you couldn't really taste them. I guess I'm just a pizza snob...
We ordered 2 pizzas and 2 cannolis and everything was perfectly made. White pizza is a special pizza offered and it was on thin, crispy crust with olive oil, garlic, spinach and I added grilled chicken and mozzarella on top, no tomato (allergic). Well it was so delectable and had almost like a vesuvio sauce that was light and flavorful. My husband inhaled the sausage and cheese with red sauce on thin crust. He didnât speak while chomping LOL then later we ate the cannolis and the shell was light and delicate filled with super smooth and creamy, perfectly sweetened marscapone then each end dipped in yummy crushed pistachio. Canât wait to try more pizzas, sides, sandwiches and desserts.Their delivery service is quick and food was hot and cannolis cold. And a very nice man made the delivery. Sorry I forgot his name. Mangia!! Order today!!
For a Friday night there were only four other couples in the restaurant. This place is usually never crowded and we were able to be seated right away. The carry out and drive thu was very busy. My family ordered the meat lovers pizza and a cheese calzone. We all thought it was great.
This place occupies the building where Papa John's used to be though it is far better. It usually only takes about 25-30 minutes and it's just down the street. The Meat Marchelloni and the Primo pizza are the best though you can't go wrong here. The garlic nuggets are worth a try though they are best with cheese on them!!
A nice little pizza place, no place for in house dining but does offer pick up and delivery. Monday and Thursday night is cheap pizza night...a Large 2 topping pizza for $8, cant beat the price for a good quality pizza...Stop by you wont be sorry

This little corner restaurant has wonderful pizza. The crust is crispy and light and the toppings are outstanding. Lots of cheese and toppings! This is how pizza is supposed to be! I would definitely recommend it for any occasion. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful and our glasses were never empty. What a great experience.
