The pizza can be bought by the slice, but order your own pie or Za (calzone) because it's that good. Cute little fish pond inside this basement restaurant will entertain the kids, but it's really a college and over hangout. Papa Rudy or Mama Rudy are delicious pizzas.

Grilled fish came with steamed vegetables. They were horrible. They were frozen and tasted like they were zapped in microwave. No seasoning. The fish was covered in a sauce to excess. Better to stick with the bar food they are serving.

I got together with friends to celebrate one of our friends trying his 500th microbrewery place. Turns out we had a winner. The beer is very good. They offer variety of styles of beers: IPAs, Lager,Wheat, Porter, Strong Ale, etc and a couple of guest taps. The place from 23rd street didn't look big, but it is a long building with plenty of parking and plenty of space. You come into the place on the side entrance. The front part is the brewery, entrance is in the bar area, there is common tables, bar, and seating, the back section has dining seating and farther back is an outdoor area along with some outdoor games, corn hole. The outdoor has shade and large fans to keep the patrons comfortable on hot Kansas summers. We were seated in the bar area. Our waiter was knowledgeable about their beers and food. Food wise, they had some appetizers, pizzas and some sandwiches. We tried their hummus and home made blue tortilla chips with corn dip. The hummus was pretty good, but I found the corn dip a bit on the too sweet side (for me) and I was wishing they had some chili heat to balance out the sweetness. The chips were very good. They had a few creative pizza options and those were popular among around group who ordered pizza. I wasn't in the mood for pizza and tried their sandwiches. My first order was the hot chicken sammie, only to have the waiter come back and informed me that they were out. No worries, I had narrowed it down to two choices, so I ended up with Southwest Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich was cooked perfectly, but I found it lacking in flavor, which was disappointing. Their homemade chips were very good, I enjoyed those more. Their beer is top notch. I sampled their IPA (IPA and double IPA) both were good and I had the Porter as well. Next time, I will try the pizza!

Seasonal Northern Italian Cuisine
Sharing a great dinner with friends at Genovese on Massachusetts Street is simply experiencing Lawrence at its best. We enjoyed our meals in the outdoor seating area starting with the morel mushroom appetizer - yum! Then a house salad with creamy Parmesan dressing. And finishing with the chicken pesto pizza - wow! Adding a glass of the craft made sangria to accompany the meal - perfection! The service was friendly and attentive. A great overall experience!

You can't beat the walk in special with a 10" one topping pizza and a drink for $5! (Cash only) The pizza is awesome with a nice thick chewy crust and crisp exterior highlighted by an abundance of toppings (fresh mushrooms are my personal favorite!). The atmosphere of a favorite college pizza joint is fun and welcoming. This is defiantly a hidden gem!

The pizza is outstanding you can buy it by the slice or a whole pie. The Mama K's appetizer is delicious as well. It is cream cheese with pesto, olive oil and garlic poured over then baked and served with huge fresh bread sticks so good. Check out Papa K's on Massachusetts St.

Lawrence is a very nice college town. The college is on top of the hill and the town of about 80,000+ sites around it. The downtown area centers around Massachusetts St., which has a nice variety of restaurants, shops and clubs/bars. This is a very comfortable city to live in, and it has been attracting retired folks recently.

Yesterday, my wife and I dined at Limestone. We split two pizzas. One was the Margarita with homemade Mozzarella and the other one was a Margarita with pepperoni. The crust was so crispy and feather light making the pizza outstanding. Also, the sauce was tangy having just the right amount of spice. The pizzas are cooked in a wood burning oven at 750 degrees for a minute and a half. The taste is incredible. I have eaten pizza many times in Italy and the Limestone would rival any of these. Indeed, this is high praise but richly deserved. You must dine at Limestone.
