My wife & I had just finished a beautiful sunset kayak outing on the Manasquan Reservoir and was looking for a place to eat close by as it was getting late. About the only thing we found locally were a bunch of pizzerias. Too many to count!! Being VERY picky about pizza/pizzerias, and finding that for the most part the ones we frequent are just average, we headed for the closest one. Upon arrival my wife commented that if I wanted to go somewhere else, she would have no problem with that decision. The outside of the building (a two store storefront; one unit vacant!) was a bit dingy and the front door to the pizzeria had a piece of plywood attached to it as the glass had broken at some time and needed to be replaced. Nonetheless it was late, we were hungry, so we cautiously entered and found ourselves in a dated, typical pizzeria style restaurant. There were tables in the front of the store and the counter and kitchen in the back. My wife and I went in and was directed to sit anywhere we wanted. We sat at a table and waited for the single waitress, who was busy taking care of other diners. After a while my wife got up to ask the woman at the counter for a menu. The waitress intercepted her and brought the menus over to our table along with place settings, silverware and water. She mentioned the specials of the evening and my wife & I placed our orders. We were served our salad fairly quickly with what appeared to be two loaves of bread. OMG - this bread was to die for. Seriously, it was that good. Then came the surprise of the night. My wife ordered the special, a plate of two ample size home made manicotti (the pasta was fresh, home made!) Yes, home made pasta!! Who does that anymore? Unbelievable taste. I ordered the Penne Siciliano which is penne pasta with eggplant and ricotta, covered with melted mooz. Another outstanding dish. We ordered a side of sautéed spinach which was the best we ever had in any restaurant, hands down. Now here's the best part.........in no time at all it was obvious this was a special place. It seemed everyone knew each other. It felt like you were in someone's dinning room on a Sunday afternoon having dinner. Both adults and children were talking, eating, taking turns keeping an active 10 month old boy with a great big smile, occupied. Several of the older children came over to us after we smiled at the boy's big smile and introduced the boy and themselves to us, and explained the relationship of their siblings. A friendly group of people. We're not sure if they were related to the owners and wouldn't have been surprised if they were. While we were halfway thru dinner, the woman behind the counter came over and introduced herself. She is one of the owners and does some of the cooking. She apologized that it took so long for her to come over as she was busy at the counter. Who does this in a pizzeria?! We spoke a little, then she left to return to the table with a plate of garlic knots...... on the house. Garlic knots this size and this delicious I cannot ever remember having. What a nice gesture. She informed us that she and her husband have been there for 40 years!! She said she cooks at the restaurant like she cooks at home. I can only imagine all of the aromas wafting thru that house! We spoke of our mutual experiences and devotion to Padre Pio whose picture hangs on the wall behind the counter. As we were paying our check, she introduced her husband and their son who helps with the cooking. These are warm, friendly family people of Italian decent. We were in heaven as they made us feel right at home. I commented to my wife that if this business was closer to our house, this place would become our second dinning room! It being only 30 minutes away will be worth any future trip here. Having paid the check, I looked over to the refrigerated case adjacent to us and noticed home made cannolis. We took half of our dinners, and the garlic knots, and the cannolis home to be enjoyed later on and tomorrow. The cannolis were so flavorful, the shell nice and crisp. How lucky were we that we happened into this place.Just a head's up so you won't be unpleasantly surprised....... they accept only cash BUT as a result, their prices are extremely reasonable. Go......you won't regret the experience of eating very good food.
Noticing the opening of this location we stopped in for a quick pizza . The owner and employees were polite and we ordered a small pizza. It was great tasting and the price was right. there is a dining room for larger parties or those not in a hurry. I would stop here again if i was in the area.

Had a nice dinner, received the check, looked it over, handed my credit card to server, she came back with receipt to sign, and the ânewâ receipt had an extra charge on it. When I realized they had passed on the 3.95% the bank charges them for credit card transactions my jaw almost hit the table! They could have raised every menu item $1.00 and no one would have batted an eye. I get it; bank fees are ridiculous, but to blatantly pass the charge on to your customers that took the time out of their day and chose your restaurant to dine is poor business management. Iâll take my business elsewhere.
My family loves everything about Nonnos Pizzeria! The owner is a great friendly guy who is always eager to help out the customers. A big difference between the Pizza here and other places is that it really feels like they take pride in putting the Pizza together and not just slapping ingredients on. Everything from the Italian dinners and hot subs to the Pizza all use top quality ingredients to make them taste great.Highly recommend going to Nonnos if in the area.

There are so many great pizzerias in the area. However, Red Moon stands out for it's flavorful sauce, baked just right, and they sure don't skimp on the toppings. Last time got sausage and mushrooms, and they were both so plentiful, it was hard to see the cheese. A lot of places the toppings have just a few pieces on each slice. They also offer an extra-large pizza.

My wife & I came on a Friday, we love their pizza but opted for chopped antipasto & 2 specials, drunken chicken & shrimp/clams over linguini with white sauce. Everything was outstanding! We've been to Federici's many times, but always get either pizza or something in red sauce because they are both delicious. I now have to add the white sauce to the rotation because it was excellent, with whole clams and chopped clams plus some very nice sized shrimp. My wife's drunken chicken was excellent as well, a variation of chicken parm but better. The staff here is excellent, hostess is very welcoming and friendly, and the wait staff is very accommodating and attentive. Will definitely be back, maybe for pizza next time, which is among our favorite in Monmouth County.

We made our annual trip to Great Adventure recently and I will admit I am not the biggest fan of Great Adventure but I will make the 2 hour trip so that I can have dinner at Mona Lisa. The food is amazing and the staff are super friendly. Every time we visit we have not been disappointed. Sadly we don't live that close so don't get down to Jackson often but if you are in the area, I highly recommend a visit.

We were very much looking forward to trying their upside down Brooklyn pie. We had been hearing good things and looked forward to it all week. So we Called to place our order. A whole Brooklyn pie with half sausage. Seems easy enough... Not so much!! They absolutely refused to put sausage on half of the pizza!! Wow. What ever happened to the customer is always right? Their answer- The owner refuses to put toppings on any specialty pie. They just lost a customer. Bye bye Brooklyn square

Visited December 23. Only 3 tables total at time. Person seating people was watching football. Was told by patron at bar we were waiting. Told us to seat ourselves while she gets menus. Waitress showed up at table about 10 minutes later. Extremely slow service. Ordered a martini. Charged $19. Glass slivers were on rim of glass. Not even an apology. Food was ordered. Appetizer flatbread was very good. Meals left alot to be desired. Penne with bolognese sauce was a barely warm pink sauce. Tasted like vodka sauce with meat tossed in. Sprite was just seltzer. Had to request new. Again waited a very long time for waitress to bring anything requested. She was busy talking to other staff. Sent 6 year over to her to give her our payment since we were waiting again. Hate to see service with a crowd if it was this bad with no one there. I would not recommend this place.
