We had a great time at this family celebration. We pre chose our orders and everything went very smoothly. The food was delicious and the staff were helpful and efficient. The place itself is really nice and was busy with a good atmosphere.

I can only imagine that from the good reviews on here there must be a different chef from our visit. It didn't start well when we had to sit in a little waiting room and my daughter visited what she thought was the toilet - only to find it a room with someone asleep on the bed!We had to wait in a little lounge area deciding on our meals. Why not sit at the table and do that?Bread was served with "fat spread" packets? Why not a bit of oil/balsamic?Bruchetta had been fried in oil that was too cold so it it was dripping oil then covered in about 50 tomatoes.Fish goujons were chicken nuggets - not even chicken strips - but the worse nuggets ever. Masses of salad but no dressings.Palma ham and rocket pizza was the missing the ham! A Rocket pizza?Pasta dishes were ridiculous in size - totally off putting. The carbonara was running in cream and the egg had cooked!Putensca (I believe to be made with an anchovy sauce) had a tin of anchovy's on top and a load crushed underneath. We all left our mains. We had 1 bottle of wine knocked off the bill and weren't charged for the cold pizza.I felt so sorry for the poor waiter. You are only as good as your cook. Why try and do 100s of dishes poorly? It could be a little goldmine if you just get the basics right and serve good quality, well cooked hot food. This should not be advertised as "italian".

We had been told about this place beforehand so we arrived expecting to either be very disappointed or massively impressed. I am pleased to say it was the latter. The restaurant is quite small which helps to create the atmosphere. The staff were lovely, really pleasant and jovial. And the food was delicious. All 4 members of our party thoroughly enjoyed it and as we were promised, the price was excellent - 4 people, 2 of which had 2 courses, a bottle of wine, a carafe of wine and 2 beers - £90.00. An absolute bargain for a beautiful Italian meal. Will definitely return the next time we are in the area.

Cafe Italia was recommended by a work colleague who said it was brilliant. I'm very happy to agree with him too. We hadn't booked but I would recommend that you do book as it's a lovely small restaurant. The waiting staff are very friendly and attentive. We were quickly seated without a fuss and pour drinks were prompt too. All 3 of us went straight to mains menu and ordered Pizzas. Our food was prepared fresh and in full view which is reassuring. Our food arrived very quickly and looked amazing. The pizza is amazing. None of us could finish and it was no trouble to box up our food to takeaway. It cost less than a pizza would from a non genuine takeaway but so much nicer . 1st time diners here but certainly not the last.

We thought we would try this establishment for a meal for 2. The tables are cramp in, the pizza I ordered was just a pool of grease and my partner spaghetti carbonara had no flavour whatâs so ever. After getting the bill and then waiting for 10-15 minutes, I asked for the card machine to pay and I was shouted at and told to pay down stairs. I will never return here and I urge you not to go to this place.

Who is posting all these reviews?!If I hadn't believed all the 5 star reviews then I'd seriously question my sanity. To anybody visiting this place please be aware that it is a very poor imitation for an American diner.Microwave meatballs & Caesar salad on a tiny plate with a few scraps of chicken for the missus that wouldn't feed a sparrow.Pathetic! The Yanks would have laughed this place out of business within a week.Better off going to McDonalds instead.Same crap food & portions at a fraction of the price. But at least you won't feel like you've just had your pants pulled down while your wallet was robbed. And anyone who has rated 5 stars praising up the food & staff, give yourself a slap across the face, look at yourself directly in the mirror & vow that you'll never mislead anyone again as long as you live after a suitable period of staring at your reflection & feeling ashamed that you've clearly only eaten from a pig's trough prior to eating here.

Pollino is situated in the heart of Halifax, with stunning hills views. We are family run Italian Restaurant with customer satisfaction at heart.
I went with a friend for an early dinner and was very impressed. The restaurant offers excellent service, good food and an amazing view. I thoroughly enjoyed my seafood risotto, gently flavoured with saffron. Will certainly visit again.

Child friendly, Group party,Welcome.
We chose to eat here as we was staying in the hotel next door. And didnât want to wander around looking for something to eat. Omg we made a superb choice. The food was amazing. My wife commented the risotto was better than she had in Rome. Staff very polite. Service very good. I would highly recommend this Italian to anybody staying in Halifax.
