In the middle of Ljubljana, only two steps away from all the tourist attractions, there is one of the most visited places in the city - pizzeria FoculuS. The name of the pizzeria is a tribute to exceptional history of the location - the Latin word "foculu
Last month, after a whole day enjoying the attractions of Ljubljana's Historic Center, my wife and I had a nice meal at this restaurant. Its ambiance is rather unusual, sort of a dark wine cellar, somewhat noisy, and full of young people, probably students from the nearby University. We ordered a couple of soups, and two glasses of white wine. All were just fine. The surprise came with our pizzas, the Sailor's one for my wife and the Napoleon for me. Both were nicely prepared full of good ingredients, on a nice light dough, and baked to perfection. By the way, the table mats will tell you the size of the medium pizzas, about 12 inches in diameter. Our waiter spoke excellent English, and answered all our questions. Even more, he graciously agreed to use his mobile phone and ordered a Taxi for us to go back to our hotel. No doubt, FoculuS is the place to have a light meal of sorts when you feel the need for a change from the usual meat heavy cuisine in Slovenia.

I walked to this famous pizza place at 3pm having 80% full stomach and still finished the whole seafood pizza with squid ink bread. It is THAT good. Staff was super friendly too which made the experience even better. Lucky I came at odd hour because the place was almost full mid afternoon- I can imagine it being super busy for dinner.

First pizzeria in Ljubljana serving Neapolitan pizza.
There are lots of places serving wood-fired pizza in Ljubljana, but this one is a bit out of the pedestrian tourist zone in the Poljane neighborhood. Itâs worth the extra short walk to check out what some people say is the cityâs best pizzeria. In some ways itâs a victim of its own popularity because all of the tables in the two small dining rooms were either occupied or reserved on a Friday night at 6pm. A waitress sat us down at a reserved table and said we had an hour to eat before the reservation showed up. Service was a bit casual but all was forgiven when the pizzas showed up. Generous amount of fluffy burrata and other cheeses on my primavera, my companionâs pie was paved with cured ham. The crust manages to be soft and crispy at the same time, with the distinctive black dots marking it as truly Neapolitan. The waiter finally smiled when we said how much we liked it. No beer on tap, only craft and local beers in bottles. Pizza was 5 stars and I would definitely come back with a reservation for the front room next time.

We popped in one hour before closure. Waitress went out of her way to get a table, very welcoming and was quick to get our order. We ordered our pizzas, and they came out within 10 minutes. Amazing! The pizzas are perfectly thin with a generous amount of toppings. The value, food and service are all great. Highly recommend.

Simple, straight forward, informal pizzeria with more options for toppings than Iâve seen anywhere. Also has salads, soup, lasagna. Friendly, efficient wait staff. Takes credit cards. Good, tasty inexpensive option after heavier Balkan food. Dear SCLESQ,thank you for your kind review!
If you go cycling or hiking you can stop by this perfect place to have a drink or even eat a delicious pizza. You dont have to pay as much as in the city center in Ljubljana where prices can be quite high. Even though this is still in Ljubljana you can enjoy fresh air from the mountains and beautiful nature! And there is always a spark of happiness and fellowship between the people who work there.

We hiked to Orle from Urh and had a lunch there. We had expected a traditional Slovene restaurant and were rather surprised by a kind of American/Mexican restaurant. We shared a half of a fried chicken, a Greek salad and finished with pancakes and struklji. The food was tasty and well presented, the service was very friendly and the price reasonable.
