After flying into Italy and driving to our hotel in Gaeta, we were ready for some 'authentic' Italian pasta, not the over-cooked, over-sauced stuff you get in too many places in the states. Nostromo's has a very extensive menu with many pasta choices. We selected the octopus as an appetizer which was tender with just the right amount of garlic, lemon and olive oil...very tasty. For entrees we had spaghetti and clams along with fettuccine with prawns and mushrooms. The clams were tender and slightly salty in a perfect sauce of nothing more than olive oil and broth from the clams; the pasta was cooked perfectly! The prawns were tender and tasted something between shrimp and lobster in a light tomato-based sauce.Attentive wait staff and reasonable prices. Hopefully we'll have time to go back before we leave.

Near our hotel in old town. Fantastic meal from starter to mains friendly attentive waiters, procschutto and buffalo mozzarella starter was delicious along with the pasta and pizza. Finished off with 2 espressos and a delicious homemade lemonchello. Will definitely be back.

We decided to go after reading some good reviews. It is in a perfect spot-right on the water. The staff is very friendly and pleasant. The menu is varied. We had pizza, seafood, pasta, salad, fritti and contorni -different choices on different nights-on our 3 visits-we were in Gaeta for 10 nights-so we were happy with this restaurant. One pizza had a ricotta-stuffed crust and was really delicious; good crust and fresh toppings. A pistachio-crusted tuna was was perfectly cooked-but needed salt; another night it was overcooked and too dry. An appetizer of fritti-zucchini, arancini and savory fritters was very good-enough for 3 to share-we had it each night. We had wine every night and liked our choice very much. Very nice experience-even if the food was a bit uneven-all in all-a good place.

Ristorante pizzeria
Seeing this get good reviews, we decided to try it. It was literally 1 minute from the place we were staying. It is a very pretty place; it has a garden and a terrace-but-they will not serve pizza on the terrace-not sure why. We ordered a vegetable appetizer, pasta and seafood as well as a pizza. Service was slow and not very friendly. We waited almost 40 minutes between our pasta and grilled fish courses-with no explanation. The vegetable appetizer was among the smallest we've ever seen; a few sliced of grilled zucchini, eggplant and sauteed mushrooms and some other things but was very boring. My pasta-seafood with zucchini- was bland and the zucchini were cut so small they were almost invisible. I asked for peperoncino and waited almost 15 minutes-and when I saw the waitress and asked about it again-she asked me if I still wanted it. I did-the pasta needed something; the pepper helped. The grilled seafood was fresh but bland. The pizza was good-in fact-it was the best choice of the night. Our waiter did not show up again until it was time for the check and he asked if we wanted coffee and if everything was ok. It was one of the most expensive of our dinners in Gaeta-we were there for 10 nights-and one of the most disappointing. Even with all this-I would try it again. It is a very pretty place and sometimes a restaurant can have an off night.

Although slightly out of the way you will not pay for parking here. The menu is honest and easy going with great seafood. They also offer good wines. Not fancy, just pleasant. Dessert was a good surprise as well. Overall makes for a great time on a sunny afternoon.

After searching on Trip Advisor, we visited this restaurant. It's location is not really in the commercial area of Gaeta, but neverthelless it was easy to find. The exterior was modest, but we had a very warm welcome in a nice restaurant. My fiancé tried the Vesuvius-pizza (it is as big as it sounds...) but could not eat it all (a shame, because it was delicious :-) ). The staff was very friendly and we could understand each other in English. We would recommend this authentic pizzeria to all of you, and we will visit it again this week!

This was an experience we wanna have on this vacation. The staff so friendly and authentic. The food traditional, fresh and the potions are more then big. We chose a wine out of the location, which was recommended from the server and it was the best recommendation for this evening. We will definitely come back.

Tielle are a specialty of Gaeta and this is definitely a great place to have them. I especially liked those with calamari and those with zucchine. There is no inside seating, just a couple of benches outside the entrance. Grab a tiella to take away, eat it by the sea, then come back for another! Cheap and excellent value.

Pizzas are really tasty and the owner is super nice and friendly. I got a free slice of pizza when I was waiting in line to make my order. Mushroom & salami pizza was my favorite! The best way to eat here is takeout and then eat next to the sea watching the beautiful views. Thanks for the great lunch and dinner!
