We were only in La Fortuna for two days and wanted to experience the most we could. Costa Rica Nature Guide specifically Angelo was absolutely amazing. He makes you feel comfortable right when you meet and will go out of his way to provide the best experience he possibly can. Overall the tour was an amazing experience we will never forget. Thanks Angelo, Costa Rican Nature Guide, and Arenal Expeditions!

We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Wave Rafting on the Sarapiqui river. Our guide, Gerald, knew the River so well, and navigated it so well that we got a great, safe ride! Had a blast. He pointed out sloth, monkey and toucans. Had a great lunch, and the jumping break complete with fresh pineapple and watermelon. But the photos for $30! #waverafting #weloverafting

I just came from Rio Celeste and I still can't believe what I saw. It was a great experience. The place is so beautiful and full of nature. We spend the night at Finca Ecológica Garza del Sol. It is an amazing place. The owners are local, so they know the area really well. My daughter wanted to see the sloths and Diego went to see if the sloths were close. He couldn't find them at their place, but he immediately contacted a friend and took us to another place to see the sloths! That was amazing and for sure NOT expected! However, we loved it! The food at the restaurant was really good! we are Costa Ricans, so we expect local food to taste like LOCAL food! that was they gave us! We loved it! The cabins are amazing! close to the river, so you sleep really good hearing the sound of the water. Everything is as you see it in the pictures. No bad surprises, only good surprises

I had a blast heading out to Rio Celeste. The tour starts at a Finca or private property with authentic Costa Rican breakfast- delicious I must add. Then the tour and driver takes you to the park to begin the tour and walk to Rio Celeste. My guide, Randal, was very informative. You can tell he knows a lot about nature which was great to have as a guide! The walk through the park was mesmerizing. It was my first tour and I couldn't stop saying "wow" the entire time. We left the Rio Celeste last and THAT blew my mind. The guide explained how and why it is Blue Celeste so it all made sense afterwards. It was just stunning to see if in front of your eyes. Beautiful blue! After the tour at the park, we went back to the Finca and ate lunch, provided there. Again, deliciously made. After lunch we had a small tour of the Finca and that was the end of the tour. It was an awesome tour, just as described. You can't pass up Rio Celeste and this tour does a great job!

Without a doubt, the highlight day of our first trip to Costa Rica was our 3-in-1 tour with RainForest Explorers. We had Carlos as our guide and driver for the first two stops - Mistico Hanging Bridges and hiking at the base of the Arenal Volcano. Carlos was truly an amazing guide and such a fun person to spend the day with. He was excellent at spotting animals and super knowledgeable about everything we saw. Mistico was beautiful, but I think without Carlos we would have walked through it in half an hour and not seen a single animal. Instead, we saw two different troops of monkeys (Spider and Howler), a tarantula, a viper, bats, Blue Jeans Poison Dart Frogs, many birds and butterflies, and on and on. It was a wonderful tour! He used his Swarovski scope to give us a great look at the animals, and also took photos and videos through it with our phones. At the end of our walk through the Hanging Bridges, Carlos cut up a fresh pineapple to snack on before we got back in the van. Even the pineapple came with a lesson, where we found out that pineapple is a multiple fruit. Next, we drove to the base of Arenal Volcano to hike up some of the old lava rocks. We got our geology lesson for the day, saw some more beautiful animals, and took some great photos. Apparently Arenal rarely shows her full face, but we had an absolutely clear view of the Volcano throughout the entire day. After Arenal, Carlos drove us to the private restaurant owned by RainForest Explorers. Yuliana, the founder of the company (who does a great job running the scheduling and customer service), and her mom Ileana welcomed us warmly to the restaurant. Ileana taught us how to make tortillas, but our results shouldn’t be representative of her teaching skills, ha! After we made tortillas, we were fed a delicious lunch of casado tipico (protein, salad, gallo pinto, avocado, and plantains - amazing), guanabana juice, and coffee made in a chorreador. It was our favorite meal of the entire trip. We hung out for a little while after lunch (and got up close and personal with a sloth that was hanging out on a fence on their property), said a sad goodbye to Carlos, and then Yuliana’s brother Edgardo drove us to Eden Chocolate Farm for a tour. After the chocolate tour (also a great tour), Edgardo picked us up and drove us back to our hotel. It was the perfect day! We would recommend RainForest Explorers for anyone looking for a touring company in the Arenal region.

We had read nice things about this place, and they were correct! There is a sign for the turn off the main road in Sarchi, but it looks at first like a business driveway for a building. You drive down a steep hill and past an open air restaurant, and at the bottom of the hill, there's a little shack and mesh-covered butterfly garden. There is a parking lot available. Rates were 2500 Colones per adult and 1500 per child 10 and under, I believe. The owner admitted us and we entered into an enclosure filled with beautiful butterflies of many types. The longer we stayed there, the more things the owner showed us--eggs, caterpillars, pupae, etc. The butterflies know his scent, so he can pick them up and show their wing patterns. He does not speak English, but he is very patient in explaining things if you know a little Spanish. We had read that you can sit on the bench and butterflies will land on you. We did find this to be the case, but not immediately (our son was a bit disappointed at first). We stayed for a little over an hour, and at the end was when the butterflies were landing on us. So be patient! There is a little gift shop on the way out with key rings and earrings made with butterfly wings. The owner used to export the species that are legal to export, but he said the local market for weddings, birthdays, etc. now rivals the export market.

Fun but full day in La Fortuna! Well organized, varied, and enjoyable! We saw great wildlife during the hanging bridges tour and go amazing pics thanks to our guide (Erica?) who was super knowledgeable! The waterfall hike is the best part of the tour but you also need to be able to do 500 steps up and down to get there! Worth it! The volcano hike is cool, but it was hard to top that waterfall view :)

We just returned from Bijagua and our inner tubing adventure with Johser and Rio Celeste Nature, and I absolutely couldn’t wait to do this glowing review. Our family of 4 really likes adventure and nature and this inner tubing adventure was just perfect for us. Rio Celeste is gorgeous and to be floating along in an inner tube is fabulous. They have great equipment, life vests, helmets, facilities to change- and they even take pictures of your group (great pictures, may I add). Johser couldn’t have been nicer. They were working super hard to keep us safe and make it fun. They certainly take precautions in this Covid age. They clearly know the river so well and are delighted to share the fun with their guests. Our 10 year old is a dare devil and they let him jump into the river from cliff. The rapids were super fun and exciting (this isn’t just a floating on the slow river tour- but we just loved it). Being in the lovely blue water and floating through lush jungle environments is like a dream. The moment we finished the tour, the kids were asking when they could do it again. DO NOT MISS THIS TOUR! You will love it. It’s a wonderful family memory and experience that we will treasure.
The photography tour is a hike of approximately 3 hours, where small group of photographers, in the company of a naturalist guide, will walk around the park to look for different species of amphibians and reptiles, such as the famous Red Eye Tree Frog, toads, snakes and more. Have the chance to observe birds, insects or mammals.

Brandon, our guide was fantastic. We had an exc time and even saw a sloth in the top of the trees and drunk fresh coconut water. The online reservation is super efficient, the bio care protocols are applied and they gave us water at the end of the tour.
