The Monomoy Theatre is supported by the remarkable Chatham and Cape community as well as the University of Hartford and The Friends of Monomoy Theatre. Unlike so many summer theaters where the students serve as apprentices with the task of supporting professional designers, technicians and performers, the Monomoy Theatre is a student driven operation. We engage professional theatre artists to serve, in a very real way, as teachers, mentors and examples for the students to follow and from whom the students can learn. In twelve weeks, eight shows ranging from hit musicals to Shakespeare are designed, rehearsed, built and performed. It's a fast-paced, enriching and extraordinary creative environment that provides a challenging and rewarding artistic experience to these talented young artists as well as our audiences.
