Top 10 Performances in El Centro (Downtown), Capital Federal District

November 18, 2021 Roseanne Arnett

The birthplace of the tango is, like the dance itself, captivating, seductive and bustling with excited energy. Atmospheric old neighborhoods are rife with romantic restaurants and thumping nightlife, and Buenos Aires' European heritage is evident in its architecture, boulevards and parks. Cafe Tortoni, the city's oldest bar, will transport you back to 1858, and the spectacular Teatro Colon impresses just as it did in 1908. Latin America's shopping capital offers the promise of premium retail therapy along its grand, wide boulevards.

Maldita Milonga

"Maldita" is the milonga you want to be in Buenos Aires. A space where dancing and live music vibrates together, mixing traditional spirit and new musical concepts. This place is filled with an intense vibe that comes from the mystisicm of the orchestra, the decoration and dark ambience of the room, and the fact that this place used to be the "meca" of punk-rock´s local scene in the 90s. We have tango classes for beginners and intermediates (9pm). The Orquesta Tipica El Afronte plays its live music with a powerful new sound, breaking schemes and presenting the tango from a young and genuine perspective (11pm) And regulary after midnight, a couple of proffesional guest dancer makes a brief performance. Our milonga is an iconic space in tango scene where you´ll have the opportunity of learn how to dance tango, interact with local dancers, make new friends and truly experience Buenos Aires music of today.

Great way to see some tango while in B.A. if you don't want to go to one of the more formal/touristy Tango shows. Watch locals dance the tango while you sip on a beer or wine and relax!

Bs As Pasion de Tango

Buenos Aires is, without doubt, the birthplace of Tango in all its expressions. With its lights and shadows, its landscapes, that nostalgic and sentimental spirit that give the perfect setting to infinite variations and tango demonstrations. Bs. As Tango Passion is a perfect synthesis that encompasses all these spectra and the plasma without losing any of the features that distinguish it from any other genre. We recreate an ample concept of Tango as Integral show without letting go of the mystical essence of this phenomenon. Tango as an expression able to connect the elegance and sophistication of its aesthetic with passion, sensuality and style inherent to delivery allows us to develop a perfect cocktail that grabs the viewer through a song, a dance of seduction and romance or a voice that tells a story carried this wistful expression. We conceive Tango through all aspects. We offer passion, love, hate, romance, emotion mischief ... Buenos Aires Pasion de Tango is undoubtedly the tango in its purest and its most attractive side. Buenos Aires Pasion de Tango was founded in 2000 as a comprehensive proposal of Tango, including in his shows all variants of the genre: dancing, singing and live music. The company presentations are characterized by their high visual impact and dynamism. Upscale wardrobe, scenery framing different times and situations and a cast of established artists in the genre impress their majestic performance to each scene. The carefully chosen repertoire takes the viewer on each letter, melody or dance piece.
