Tahiti and Bora Bora are the most well known French Polynesian islands, thanks to their picture-perfect beaches and romantic ambiance. Indeed, these islands are ideal for handholding, with their lush landscapes and mood-setting features like lagoons and grottos. The heart-shaped island of Mo’orea makes a wonderful base for divers and snorkelers eager to explore its surrounding barrier reef system. Feeding the massive, sacred eels of Huahine is a one-in-a-lifetime way to experience an important local ritual.

In idyllic and relaxing surroundings, Cecile and Alban reserve for you a warm and authentic welcome. The “pension” is located not far from the airport and the village and more than 100 m from the road. For lodging, seven bungalows ner the lagoon, two garden bungalows, a small and clean beach, a marina and two leisure areas are waiting for you. In the program: relaxation, excursions to the motu, fishing and discovery of all the riches of the atoll of Rangiroa. You will feel part of the family with Cecile, Alban, Alexandra and Taurama
The first thing I need to point out is the most wonderful and kind staff who made our days in Rangiroa the best! My boyfriend unfortunately got sick during our days there, but the staff drove him to/from the doctor and helped us in that regard, which was unbelievable kind and comforting, when you are ill in another destination. Thus, I cannot stress how nice they made our stay despite our situation. The bungalow towards the sea is clean and charming with plenty of room and a cosy balcony with furnitures. A perfect silent place in the shadows to read that book or play a card game. The water around is amazingly blue as you'd expect, and one of the nice dogs even like to swim in the water with you (or at least walk out in the water on the rocks to look at fish). It kinda felt like being with family. Also, we highly appreciated the staff's ability to speak a some English as we speak no french at all. Mauruuru! Henrik & Louise (Denmark)

Hébergement en bungalows ou espace camping sur un beau site aéré et arboré avec vue sur l'océan
Met some fantastic people here. Lots of like minded divers. Has everything you need - well equipped kitchen, lovely bungalows and great company! Would 100% recommend, especially for backpackers! Note the bungalows are separate units and don’t have en suite. There’s WiFi everywhere. Tea + coffee included. Typical FP breakfasts, sometimes with Extra surprises (tiramisu, doughnuts!)

Pension Arriihevai is a perfect example of a simple but charmful Tuamotu Pension that excels in warmth of the owners and unbeatable location at a perfect spot in a perfect lagoon. What separates this place from others in the Tuamotus (and what makes it so very popular with locals) is that they add free lagoon tours: one to a nice beach situated around an archeological Marae, one to an amazing Motu and another one to a channel/digout for swimming, all with perfect BBQs. Those who have been to other atolls know how pricey these tours can get. While most guests are short term visitors from Tahiti that stay either 3 or 4 days, we enjoyed a longer stay and had the chance to do multiple tours, or just hang at the beach located near the pension. Beaches on the entire atoll (very different to others like Fakarava, Tikehau, etc), including the one next to the pension, are very shallow and seem perfect for kids, though at the pension there is a section that allows for swimming. Compared to other atolls the snorkeling is not such mind blowing, that seems to be the price for the out-of-the-world blue lagoon color and warm waters. What really makes Arrihevai so outstanding is the friendliness: the staff was going out of their way to make us feel comfortable, they even made us special lunch for days we did not join the tours. The owner, Priscillia and her team are the kindest and warmest hosts you will find. The huts are basic as typcial for small pensions in the Tuamotos, but clean and some have nice lagoon views. Unbeatable what you get for the pice you pay, especially considering the included tours. Thank you for the amazing stay, Ursula and David

Being in Maupiti is unmatched. Pension Papahani should only be rated through this light. The location, on an ecological sanctuary, and the full time presence of the owners make it absolutely unique. It's a chance to enjoy the luxury offered by nature and the local simplicity and hospitality. Along these lines, Papahani combines comfort and good taste with the spirit of Maupiti: the feeling that you are a guest sharing the most precious things they have. For that, the company and the attention of Filomene, Jean Pierre, Nani and Tetou (sorry if I didn’t mention all the others involved) guarantee a stay with all comforts you could possible wish for in a pristine place like a Motu (and something else). The bungalows are spacious, with private bath with hot water (what a luxury! They have solar energy at the pension!). At the time we stayed (mid-December, with cloud cover and some rain late in the evening), we didn’t even have to turn on the fan. For those that can’t disconnect (I strongly recommend it) the wi fi connection is reliable with good speed. Highlight for dinners served every day at 7 PM generally with delicious raw tuna and cooked white tuna, with different sauces and other great fresh dishes. The beach is the pension’s playground, with constant breeze. They offer kayaks, that can take you around the Motu and even farther. At 5 PM, it’s feeding time for the rays, that eat fish out of our hands, as close as they can get to the sand. Simultaneously, other fish and seagulls fight for the spoils. The ocean side of the Motu has great coral gardens, with excellent snorkeling. After all, as I said above, being in Maupiti is unmatched ...

We had such a wonderful at home stay! We stayed for 5 nights, and had a fabulus time with Luc and Marguerite. Marguerite spoke enough English to support us during the stay. Luc did not speak as much English as Margureite, but was so frienly and caring, that we even felt him like our father! Breakfast and dinner is served in the main house, and viseters eat togeather. Menu is Polinesian style, with a lot of fish, which was very delicious. We would definately definately choose Tapiheitini if we have another chance to vist Rangiroa!

Kaoha Nui! Welcome to the “Villa Enata” guesthouse. Ideally situated 3-min drive away from the village of Atuona and 10-min drive from the airport, located in calm and fresh surroundings, on the heights of Tahauku, Villa Enata provides you with a stunning panoramic view of the mountains and the sea. With us, the ambiance is laid back. You will be welcomed warmly and our only concern will be to make your stay pleasurable thanks to a quality accommodation including on request catering. Two luminous rooms with private bathrooms are available in the main house and can accommodate respectively 5 and 2 guests. Two independent bungalows (room and bathroom) are also available next to the pool and can accommodate 4 and 2 guests. You will surely appreciate our lounge too, next to the pool, where you will be able to have a drink or simply relax with a good book. We are looking forward to welcoming you.
This is more than just a pension, we felt like home. This accomodation was our favourite during our polynesian trip. We had a great stay with guesthouse owners Mimi and Pierric. They prepared delicious food every day and helped us with everything - boat to Fatu Hiva, rent a bike, find a local guide, trip to Tahuata... nothong is problem. They speak english and offcourse french. Place is very special with pool and spectacular view both to the cliffs and sea. Rooms are very nice, spacious and clean. Hope to come back one day.

Stayed here for 3 nights. It's ok but I reckon there will be lots of other choices at this price level. The owners picked us up and dropped us back at the airport which was great but that's pretty much all we saw of them. I tried to find them a couple of times but gave up. Rooms (ours was a bungalow) were basic and lacked any real kit for self catering, e.g. Cooking utensils etc. It did have a fridge though which helped. I know Rangiroa is hot but the floor standing fan just wasn't up to the job. The foam mattress just added to the oppressive heat meaning sleeping was hard. The mosquito net looked a bit damaged so I was glad we took our own. In fairness the mosquitos weren't too bad here. I liked the location half way along the island and all the local restaurants (Maitai, Raira Lagon, Obelyx etc) were good and in walking distance. The roug coral beach and deck area were really nice too with a reasonable bit of coral to snorkel around. There weren't enough (free) bikes to go around and one with a puncture just didn't get fixed. Wifi up on the deck by the sea was good enough and the deck area was a nice touch. Would I stay there again? I think at that price I'd try one of the other options. However I'd probably increase my budget for one of the better options that looked pretty good.

We wanted to visit one of the most hidden gems in polinesia and decided to spend few days in maupiti. We stayed at a small pension and spent 5 days. The island is gorgeous and very remote. No big hotels and restaurants. There is no comfort and the hotel rooms were very basic and rustic with few night visitors but despite that we had an amazing time. Nelson the owner went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. If you are looking for a more natural vacation with no luxury I would definitely recommend fare pao and maupiti.

The setting is lush with vibrant colors and tropical foliage. The pool is blue and refreshing. Frederic, our host, did not know what flight we were on, but without us knowing, he called the airport, learned the flight, and met us there with transportation! We love luxurious resorts where we feel pampered and spoiled. We also love connecting with a local experience. The bungalows gave us exactly that! Gary, the lizard greeted us, before skittering away. The mosquitos stayed away from my husband as they usually do, and they loved me despite repellant. Thank god for the mosquito netting and incense provided. Bring your own soap and shampoo. Single speed bicycles are provided and we felt like kids again peddling around the island breathing in the spectacular beauty. We were close enough to the town to walk and get our exercise without it being too long. We weren't so far away that we had to rent a car. Finally, when our flight was late, Frederic let us have an extremely late check-out --- like 6:00 p.m. We loved our Huahine experience.
