ENTERPRIZE - Melbourne's Tall Ship

Enterprize is a traditionally constructed replica of a Hobart-built 1830s coastal trading ship. Built to the original ship’s dimensions, primarily with recycled timber held with copper fastenings, rigged with tarred hempen cordage and finished out with traditional flax canvas sails, she was built close to her 1830s namesake while complying with modern maritime safety regulations. Belowdecks berthing and comfort were included to accommodate passengers instead of the original ship’s purpose of carrying cargo. Built over 6½ years by mostly volunteers and launched in 1997, Enterprize offers her unique experience to Melburnians, Victorians... everyone with an adventurous spirit. The ship operates from late November through April from her Docklands home and numerous ports in Port Phillip, and on occasions along the south coast of Australia. Enterprize’s programs includes public sailing events, offshore ocean voyages, school education and experience programs, sail training voyages and the ship is also available for private charters.

Sandridge Beach

The highlight of this beach area is the Sandridge Lookout Located only 800m along the gravel path that is Dockside Rd extending out into Hobson Bay (being the northern most part of Port Phillip Bay), this elevated structure lookout provids panoramic views back to the beach, over to the city's western face and back over the elegant curve and climb of the Westgate Bridge A great place for cyclists to visit or for beach goers wanting a stroll. A little known hidden (but quite obviously visible) gem.
