We were staying at Korora Beach just a bit further north. The beach is full of pebbles and rocks. We happened to fine Diggers Beach which is just lovely. Great white sand, plenty of room for everyone and a nice little wave. There is a couple of lookouts so that the surfers and check out the surf, plenty of parking, nice picnic facilities as well as a modern amenities block.

Great for cycling (at low tide), long walks to broken head (home of Chris Hemsworth), swimming without the crowds, fishing and relaxing with a good book.

Byron Hills is situated situated just 3 mins drive into the quaint village of Bangalow and 6-10 mins to Byron’s beaches. Ballina/Byron Airport is a 20 min drive and Coolongatta Airport is a 45 min drive. The property sits on 5 lush acres with views of the surrounding Hinterland and Macadamia farms. The house is well equipped and beautifully furnished with warm inviting interiors. There are 4 good sized bedrooms in total. The Master Suite including an ensuite and outdoor bath with stunning views. Each of the bedrooms open onto gardens or decks with views. There are several outdoor zones to enjoy including an undercover bbq area with seating for 8 people including lounge area. The Tuscan inspired pergola also seating for 8 people includes a traditional pizza oven. This is a beautiful space of an evening as the sun goes down behind the spot lit 100 year old Fig tree. There are monthly markets held as well as the weekly Saturday morning Farmers market where you will find local produce.
I love Byron so much. It’s getting quite commercial now and the prices are up there, but I definitely love the vibe and how everything is centrally located , so I recommend getting accomodation near by so you don’t really need to touch the car unless you’re driving to surf spots. I would avoid going during schoolies and school holidays to avoid the chaos .

A great, flat sandy beach for walking. As it is dog friendly we got to meet all breeds and spoke with many locals who are also very friendly, lol. Also, the water was still beautiful and warm for this time of year.

Today we visited Billabong zoo greeted by lovely ticket staff with big smiles and a lovely welcome. It has been one of the highlights of our holiday. The zoo keepers are not only amazing but very informative and show care and expertise in how they treat the animals. Always with the greatest respect I might add. Special thanks to Simonne no one knows more about Koalas than this young woman. Also she did several other animal talks given us a real insight to the work they do at the zoo and the importance of conservation. Thanks also to Brooke and her assistant we had a very informative chat about big cats she is an amazing young woman what an achievement working with these wonderful complex animals at such a young age. Also to Ashley excellent talk over the noise of traffic which wasn't easy about the stunning red pandas who obviously adore her. Shrek was fantastic and our jaws dropped at the skill of the presentation by both Keepers. Cafe offered lots of delights but we ended up with only having drinks and ice cream as the weather was too hot to eat a hot meal! Hope to visit again soon!

Experience marine animals up close. Discover how you can help preserve our wildlife and their environments every day. Be inspired to act and save our marine animals and oceans. Dolphin Marine Conservation Park is Coff's Harbour's #1 experience. Located on the beautiful Mid-North Coast of NSW, in Coffs Harbour, close to the Jetty precinct and adjacent the Coffs Creek. Our marine park opened 50 years ago, Boxing Day 1970, as a rescue and rehabilitation centre for native marine animals and we continue this vital service today. Dolphin Marine Conservation Park is the only destination in Australia where you can experience unique marine mammals up close including bottle-nosed dolphins, endangered Australian Sea Lions, Little Blue Penguins, Freshwater Turtles and local Reef Fish. Plus you can see our Animal Rehabilitation hospital at work. We rescue, rehabilitate and release hundreds of turtles every year. Open 9-3 daily except for Public Holidays. So much more peaceful than main beach of the Pass and we love that our dog is as welcome as we are. We love our walks along the beach when the blue bottles are in or the wind is up almost as much as we love those perfect wave days.
