This is our third motorcycle adventure with the family (where we had to rent bikes). Motorrad Central, Edinburgh was easy to work with from reservation to bike return. Friendly staff, great bikes, and a fantastic two-week tour of Scotland, northern England, and Northern Ireland. If I had to find something to complain about it would be the...rain. :) They stored our luggage (that we didn't take on the bikes with us) and had it all laid out for us to repack when we returned.

Stunning course and very well looked after. The Professional Cliffe is very welcoming and gave me a great coaching session. Billy and the team in the clubhouse serve up a wonderful menu and well stocked bar and are very friendly and welcoming. Definitely a golf course worth visiting.

Edinburgh Butterfly & Insect World is the longest running indoor tropical Butterfly House in the world and is one of Scotland's favourite tourist and educational attractions. Great for a family day out!
My friend and I visited this wonderful place and were delighted by the range of things to see. There are some restrictions in place due to Covid-19 (you have to book a timed visit and there’s no handling of creatures) but that didn’t hamper our enjoyment at all. The butterfly environment is lovely and there are many different species flying freely around. There are also tortoises and terrapins. There is also a reptile area and insect area with many fascinating species. One of the highlights was talking with the knowledgeable staff, especially Kev. He was full of interesting and entertaining information which helped us appreciate the creatures even more. We spent about an hour and a half in there and would definitely recommend a visit. There is also a well-stocked shop.

Kings Acre Golf Course has a beautiful 18 hole par 70 course with a lovely restaurant, driving range and a kids course. A hidden gem, we are close to Edinburgh city centre, yet we feel secluded and peaceful. The perfect spot for lunch or golf. We are always open to everyone, whether you are playing or enjoying the facilities, our freidnly staff will ensure you have a lovely day.
Every time I drive up the road to Kings Acre, which sweeps up the hillside from the main toad and borders the golf course, I know I’m in for a great meal and drinks in picturesque surroundings. It’s worth going for breakfast. The Half Acre normally as it fills me up fine, but sometimes I’ll take the Whole Acre which adds black pudding, haggis and tatty scone into the plate. Always wash the breakfasts down with a mug of Illy Coffee. Delicious. For lunch and dinner I love the Steak and Caledonian Ale Pie with a glass of red wine from their decent selection. Give Kings Acre a try, even if you’re not a golfer. It’s a great location, good food and friendly people.

Reviews Melville Golf Centre 9 Hole pay and play course. Good for learners and low-mid handicappers. Wide fairways but greens are all guarded with bunkers and/or grassy knowles. Reasonable value for a pay and play round. Two good options for adult membership available too. Driving Range is excellent. Power Tees in all bays. Top Tracer has recently been installed in every other bay too and works great. Offers loss of different options other than smashing 100 balls with your Driver. Lots of targets from 25 yards upto 300+ yards. Good quality Srixon balls. Large free to use car park. 6 hole pitch and putt available behind the range, practice putting green and small chilling area. All superb value, and free if you have any sort of membership. Location is great, 5 minute drive from the City By-Pass. There is a Premier Inn and restaurant right next to the facility, if you’re travelling for work, etc you could definitely get a walk-on game/range session in the evening. Staff are all super friendly and helpful. I’ve not had a lesson from the Pro but he’s been coaching a long time and is well credentialed, I’ve also only heard positive reviews about him from others. Owner has demonstrated he is aiming to continually improve the range and course, addition of Top Tracer in range, new Starters Cabin on the First Tee and upgrading of the 8th green attest to that. Fantastic course, can’t recommend enough. A+
