Ostia (/ˈɒstiə/) is a large neighbourhood in the X Municipio of the commune of Rome, Italy, near the ancient port of Rome, named Ostia, which is now a major archaeological site known as Ostia Antica. Ostia (also called Ostia Lido or Lido di Roma or Lido di Ostia) is also the only municipio or district of Rome on the Tyrrhenian Sea and many Romans spend the summer holidays there. With about 85,000 inhabitants, Ostia is the first or second-most populated frazione of Italy, depending on whether Mestre is counted.

To get away from the usual routine there is nothing better than getting on board and giving up the moorings. Do you want to take a boat trip? Zucchero & Cannella is a 12-meter sailboat and with an Fiv instructor on board you can choose whether to leave daily, aperitif at sunset, boat holidays (Ponza-Giglio-Sardinia), sailing courses, regattas, boat & breakfast.

I see mostly positive reviews and some outright lies written back in 2015.., if anyone walked around with condoms on, the owner Veronica would have knocked them upside their heads with an oar... just try to take a picture( absolutely not allowed!) and you will suffer the same fate. This is an AWESOME BEACH, with world class food and wine... amazing experience in one of the rare “OFFICIAL NUDE BEACHES IN ITALY”... Open today ( OCTOBER 27th, Sunny 24 degrees, 75 F)... This is a nude beach, so if you plan to wear a bathing suit please go elsewhere, unless coming for an amazing lunch and you are not a prude.

I've been coming here most summers since the 80's. I've always enjoyed it. It's very friendly and easy to meet people. The bar sells food and beverages. You can get a beach chair and umbrella from Mustafa. You can choose if you want to lay out in the nude or in your bathing suit depending on where you lay out. In any case the areas are side by side. The area between the street and the beach where the dunes are and the paths is very friendly and you can strike up a conversation there as easy as you can on the beach. The water is not the cleanest but some days it's not that bad. In any case there are showers where you can refresh yourself and wash off the sea remnants. It takes a while to get there with public transportation. I think if I didn't have a moped I wouldn't go very often. Because it's not easy to park your car because spaces are limited and I don't have the patience for the public transportation. The B subway to Piramide and then a 20 minute train ride to Ostia where you take the 7 but in the direction of Torvianica. Keep your eyes peeled or you may miss it. The beach club right before it Mediterranea is similar but tends to attract more of the muscled set.
