We hiked the Great Auk trail on Joe Batt’s Arm; Turpin’s Trail and Oliver’s Cove in Tilting and Brimstone Head in Fogo and Lions Den, also in Fogo, was our favourite. If you’re fit and not stopping for photos, you can do it in about 40 minutes. It took the three of us, ages 13-55 an hour and a half, both times. We did it clockwise and counterclockwise and clockwise is better because you’re walking into better views. Bring bug spray and sun block and at least half a litre of water per person — a litre would be better. I love this hike because of the views, but also because it takes you through forest, marsh and coast. Don’t miss it!

My wife and I hiked this trail last September, however I was unable to post here due to the fact I didn't know the address of the trail. So, to the trail itself. We began by wandering through a forest that was cool and inviting. Then on to the pastures and meadows that approach the sea. The trail was very good for walking with a couple of rough sections and many "improved" sections with stairs and boardwalks. As we approached the shore, I realized that this place was unique to our 6 week experience in NFLD. On that particular day the power of the ocean was in full display and the fact that the sun shone over everything gave us a spectacular show. I feel that I could have brought a tent and sleeping bag and spent a couple of days mesmorized by what I was experiencing. If you are on Fogo Island, this is a must do hike.

This trail is mostly flat with a few inclines on a few boardwalks but mostly paths, rocks, stones, boulders. The topography changes often with a variety of different stone formations, small bogs, ponds, stunning views of waves crashing along the shoreline. There is a bronze statue of a Great Auk, an extinct flightless bird that resembled a penguin located near the end of the trail. You will see a sign for the statue and a sign for a beacon. You will also see the Long Artist Studio located on the first km. BEAU-TI-FUL!

Just back from an absolutely fantastic trip to Fogo Island. We hired a local fellow Roger to show us around the island. He has lived here all of his life & showed us the attractions as well has some hidden gems. Don't be afraid to ask a local. Fogo head trail, we did not take the hike, but enjoyed the view from the interpretive site. Spectacular view. There re several small museums on the island & very reasonably priced at $5. Fabulous hike up the Brimstone Head Trail. This is an easy hike & a definite must see .Marconi Station is an interesting stop. The famous Fogo Inn on Joe Batts Arm is something to see. Take a drive to Tilting, beautiful white sand beach & lots of photo ops. You really need 2 full days to truly enjoy all the little island has to offer.
