About 50 miles northeast of Trento, Corvara in Badia is the principle town of Alta Badia, a ski resort area at the top end of the Val Badia Valley in Bolzano-Bozen. Home to many alpine skiing World Cup events, the gorgeous mountain region also has many lovely towns and beautiful sights not on the normal beaten tourist path, such as the Sante Croce pilgrimage church and the Museum Ladin Ciastel de Tor (Little Ladin Museum), honoring the unique Dolomite culture of the local Ladin people.

We spent a week in Colfosco on a fab skiing holiday, which was made 100 times easier, more convenient and much more enjoyable by the staff at Pescosta. Top marks and a big thank you too.

After several years we finally attempted it and did it! Great day of skiing 25 miles. Watch out for the “alternative” route though which involves Black runs!

In Alta Badia golf-lovers have the possibility of playing on a 9-hole course set in the most breathtaking scenery in the heart of the Dolomites, right under the Sella massif and the Sassongher. The golf course is at 1700 meters above sea level only a few kilometers from the town centre of Corvara, in untouched nature and with an ideal temperature, far from the summer sultry heat in the valley. From June to October the conditions are perfect to assure a wounderful round of golf, on a sunny highland with a difference in height of a mere 45 meters.

We booked ski equipment from here and arrived at peak time on a Saturday evening. However the staff have a very clear production line and we were soon dealt with. When my first boots didn't fit quite right there were no quibbles and another option was immediately available. Equipment was all fairly new and in good condition. Staff were friendly and helpful. You do need to register on their system when you arrive but evidently if you book on their website they will already have asked for a lot of the same information so it makes the process easier. Returns was easy, they just scanned the bar code on the boots and skis and off we went. Note that there is parking outside of the shop but it can get quite busy as it's shared with some hotels. We parked in the pay and display just down the hill and then took the car up after we'd got our equipment.

Our instructor Luca B was excellent for our ski group. We where of similar ability and he was able to build our confidence, keep us all safe and help to build on our individual strengths. The school is very well run and organised. The ski area is fabulous and the views outstanding ,being able to ski further and see the area and views was amazing. I was able to ski further than ever before and this was mainly due to the excellent instructor. Well done. We will be back !

Break Out was founded in 1997 from the idea of Ivo Rudiferia, snowboard world champion `96, to convey his passion and experience in selling mountain sports equipment. In the course of time the shop has become a reference point for many sports and snow enthusiasts. Our strength lies in the continuous research and experimentation of new and technically advanced brands to offer our customers. That’s why our store, more than any other in Alta Badia, boasts a wide range of high technical products, selected after extensive tests and directly imported from the country of production. The ski and snowboard rental is fully equipped: we offer a wide range of skis and snowboards, to satisfy the needs of each skier, from the beginners to the experienced skiers, who loves performance skis like those of the athletes or special handmade skis. Our equipment is renewed every year and always perfectly prepared. Ivo Rudiferia, ski and snowboard instructor, national trainer and former world champion, tests and selects personally all the equipment, to assure that only the best material is sold in our rental. A workshop service for the repair and preparation of the equipment is connected to the rental. With the use of computerized machines of latest technology and our know-how, we ensure flawless results. Among our loyal customers we boast some Olympic athletes, that demonstrates that professionalism is our main characteristic.
My friend and I rented two high end road bikes for our 7-day cycling trip thru the Dolomites, climbing almost all of the famous Passos of the historic Giro’ routes. Our tight schedule (cycling everyday and covering both the Arabba region & Bormio) meant that we needed reliable bikes. We arrived at the shop in the afternoon only to find two bikes (Pinarello & Specialized) all ready for us. Based on prior communications with Ivo re the size and measurements of my bike at home, Ivo prepared them and I did not have to make ant adjustments other than putting on my own pedals. My bike (Pinarello Gan model) was a reliable work horse as we covered 450 miles over 40,000 feet of climbing. Not a single mechanical issue was experienced. My friends bike needed a minor adjustment on his shifter but that was it? When my friend experienced a small cut after two days, they immediately replaced the tire so we won’t be stuck in a long climb. Very responsive and professional service.... The only downside I experienced was that despite stating our rental period in advance, Ivo booked my bike for a large group rental, which forced me to return my bike one day earlier than I wanted. He told me about it before I arrived but given limited selections available, I went with his shop anyway. Once a deposit is made, this should not happen although I can understand his business decision not to loose a “bigger deal.” With proper communication, I think this can be avoided. We were impressed by the way our bikes were ready for pick up and the high quality rental bikes that were available at the shop. No other shops seemed to have the same caliber of rental bikes. If you want high end carbon road, mountain or even E-bikes, Breakout is the place to go. I would highly recommend and will go back to rent in a heartbeat.
