From Alberta’s southwestern border north into British Columbia, the Canadian Rockies are a network of provincial and national parks that collectively make up a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Banff and Jasper national parks are connected by the Icefields Parkway, one of the most scenic drives in the world. Went with hubby and our niece over Labour Day weekend. We climbed late afternoon on a pretty chilly day. I’m not an expert hiker and I’ve only started hiking this year so every step for me was accompanied by huffing-and-puffing. I stayed about a few metres down and just enjoyed the unobstructed view of Prince of Wales Hotel while hubby and niece went all the way to the top.

The BEST experience! I am so thankful I decided to take the plunge and go on a hot air balloon ride. It was absolutely GORGEOUS up in the air and I felt completely safe the whole time. I went at the end of May in Albuquerque and got to see the sunrise over the beautiful Sandias. It was an experience of a lifetime. Our group also had the best pilot, Alfred. He is so experienced and professional. I was a little scared but he made the ride so fun! I highly suggest Alfred as a pilot. This experience exceeded my expectations and I am so thankful I chose this company for a check off my bucket list!

The 6-hour summit tour was awesome! The scene throughout the day was breathtaking and our guide, Katsu, was caring, knowledgeable, and humorous, which made the trip even better. I’d totally recommend to people planning on visiting Banff to put via ferrata into the bucket list.

I hiked Stanley Glacier on September 24, 2020. I did the 8.3 km trail but not the loop at the end. The trail started off by crossing a creek and then gaining steady (but fairly gentle) elevation on long switchbacks leading through forest. It wasn’t too difficult if you take it slow. I’m from the flat Prairies and found this to be an “easier” mountain hike. There were amazing views of the mountains from beginning to end. After 2 km, the trail levelled off and was mostly flat, until just before the end where it climbed a bit more over rocky terrain. The trail travels through mostly forest and crosses a few creeks. The trail ended with expansive views of the mountains and glacier in the distance. There was an additional loop that you could do, which looked quite rocky and steep. It started snowing and was quite windy at the end point, so I opted to head back down. I was in awe at the incredible beauty on this hike and loved the pops of yellow in the trees. This wasn’t a larch hike but still very pretty. I arrived at around 9 am on a weekday and was the first one on the trail and thoroughly enjoyed the peacefulness. On the way down, I passed a few people. It took me 3 hours to complete. There was an outhouse at the trailhead. There was no cell service along the entire trail so be aware of that. I didn’t spot any wildlife or see any signs of bears. Beautiful trail! Would recommend.

We had trouble finding the trail head as GPS took us to the Jasper Park Lodge and then kept taking us around in circles we asked at the front desk and found out that you need to park whereever you can which might be very difficult if it was really busy since most of the parking is for guests.. we found another highway that takes you to a parking lot half way around but we walked through the lobby to the other side and exited out to the left past the reception that takes you outside they told us to start walking to the left the trail was very rugged definitely not something that you would want to do if you have mobility or vision issues and I had to keep my head down watching where to walk, definitely not a stroller it was not like Lake Annette that was paved and smooth but here bikes are allowed but you would have to get off and push frequently towards the end the trail is washed out a bit...this trail is also muddy and slippery ...the signs are confusing by golf course you are not allowed to go on the trail there even though another sign said you could..we walked partway on paved highway the scenery and water blue cold and clear is spectacular so we were done in an hour and rented a canoe for one hour at the jasper park lodge is 75.00 and 45 at pyramid lake but was worth it as long as you get the big three seat wide canoe the others are small and tippy especially the ones with seats ..very scary a nice ending is a drink at the lodge sooo beautiful

This hour loop was fantastic, beautiful views and wildlife. You could just do the lookout part and not the loop. To get to the lookout there’s quite a few stairs and is quite steep so some fitness is required. You can stop wherever you like but if you want to go all the way to the top you will be rewarded with spectacular views of Jasper
