Yunotsu Onsen

This was far and away my favorite onsen of my recent trip to Japan where I visited several different onsen. This one was old and the bath itself was covered in mineralized rock and it was geougeous to look at and felt sooth to the touch and the water was good and hot and you could feel the therapeutic effects of all the minerals in it. It was 400 years old and just incredible. I would definitely go back!

Kenmin no Hama (Hiroshima Prefectural Beach)

Reviewed By china_108 - Higashihiroshima, Japan

I just can't imagine how this beach can be so well-designed. We went there in winter with no water sports but it was still excellent. We played badminton in the B&G sports centre for 600 yen for an hour. Tennis court is also available. The onsen overlooks the sea. Sauna is available there (entrance fee 500 before 17:00, 400 after). I highly recommend the cottage, which overlooks the whole beach (kenmin no hama). For 10 people, cottage 512 gives the best view, for 5 people, 513. Other cottages are also good. It was late February and we could see sakura at the balcony. Since the balcony faces south, sunrise and sunset viewing are both possible. The kitchen has everything, even a grill plate. In summer you can pay 2000 yen and rent a barbecue stove and enjoy barbecue at the balcony. The only thing is wifi is not available at the cottage but you can use it at the hotel, which is only 200 meters away. At night, you can go to the observatory. It is open every Saturday but you have to make a reservation at other times. Entrance fee 200 yen. You can also lie at the lawn in front of the hotel to view stars. If you like cycling, you can rent a bike at the island on the east side (Shimo-kamagari Island), it is around 15 mins drive.

The outdoor baths are just stunning and so relaxing. There are different kind of baths and water temperature. There is also a salt dry sauna that we really enjoyed. You have a view on the bay while enjoying your onsen so it is a perfect environment to relax.
