I don't recommend visiting this restaurant, it's heaps of other really great restaurants on the harbor in Tønsberg. Places like Havariet, Steak, Kverneriet and Paparazzi. My husband and I decided to try Becks as it was the only place on the harbor that wasn't overcrowded that day. After checking out the menu we had to walk inside to get the waiter to take our order. The mussels tasted good, but the fries were cold and it wasn't served with soup and aioli as described in the menu. While eating, nobody checked up on us and after we finished no one came to take our plates, so we had to walk inside to pay the bill. When we got inside we could hear the chef's arguing with the waiters and they were swearing at each other. I get that it can get stressful at times, but it was barely any people in the restaurant at the time and when the staff isn't happy at work - it affects the customers more thank you think.

Belysningen bestar
Been to Big Horn in Oslo, Kongsberg, Bergen and Trondheim and always been happy with both service and food quality. However in Tønsberg it was a huge disappointment. First of all the attendance by the waiter was under pari. No welcome and menus handed out like at a low end Chinese restaurant. As we planned for a romantic night out we tried to forget that and concentrate on each other and the normal good food. We ordered Pil Pil as a starter. Actually quite tasty but at the steep price of 139 kr for 4 small shrimps. The real downturn however came with the main course. We ordered as we have done at the other Big Hornâs one 300 g entrecôte each, one well done as my wife is pregnant and one medium done for myself. When the beefs came it seemed that my wifeâs beef was well done but halfway through it was actually medium to raw. The beef was unevenly grilled as I find surprisingly at a place specializing on steaks. Obviously my pregnant wife could not finish and left more than half of the beef on her plate. My beef was worse. When arriving the table it was obviously not medium as ordered. Outside it had been to the grill but at first cut it was completely raw inside. The middle was actually cold. Again at a restaurant specializing on beef, this is unbelievable. The restaurant was less than half full so no excuse that the kitchen was too busy. Obviously I wanted to send back the steak to the kitchen but it took more than 5 minutes to get the attention of the not so service minded waiter. When the steak came back also this one was unevenly cooked medium in one part but still partly raw at other parts. The worst was however the quality of the meat. They promote the restaurant use premium meat with a tenderness guarantee. I have worked in a butchers store and can guarantee this was not entrecôte. And for sure it was not tender and near to be premium meat. I am not sure this even came from a cow.We both left more than half of our food on our plates and asked for the bill. The waiter did not even mind to ask if we were satisfied. Total bill of 1100 for a meal like this is a total ripoff. Probably needles to say but we will never return. So i just received and answered your complain on email. Your version here is kind of different and quite mean. Because of a steak that we could have fixed within a few minutes, if you had let us know, simple as that! These kinds of complains makes trip adviser unserious. The waiter stood there with the menyes ready, you couldnt decide where to sit, you went out, you went in, you complained on the main course, they fixed it, you ate all and when you paid you even said " the food was delicious" We could have given you a new steak, we would offer you dessert and coffe and we could let you eat for free. But you must let us now that you're not satisfied, this is why we ask if everything is ok. Sure you could have had a waiter that gave you more attention, sure the entrecote could have been more tender. Your wife said everything was ok. As we speak we have many happy customers, saying the restaurant and our garden is so cosy that they would never eat elsewhere. I understand things can go wrong, as all restaurants experience from time to time, but the best thing for you as a customer is to communicate with the waiter, let them know that you're not satisfied. Yesterday, we would give you another steak, not a problem at all!

Lava Oslo with the local star chefs Tom Victor Gausdal & Stian Floer in the lead takes over the old Tønsberg Town Hall to create Vestfold's new meeting place Stasjonen. We have completely renovated the entire first floor and build a brand new restaurant,
My date and I had high expectations, alas, we left rather less enthusiastic than we arrived. As the main courses did not entice us we decided to order snacks and entrees family style. They waiter looked rather confused about family style, but the chef, apparently, understood. The wine list offered us nothing we recognised so we asked our friendly waiter, who recommended their house wine. The house wine was a disgusting, characterless bio-dynamic concoction. An unmitigated disaster. When the time came to order a new bottle I used Vivinoâs wine list scanning function. The result was as depressing as their house wine. A wine list based on a belief in magic and ideology is not a good starting point. I suggest you restock your wine list to match your website assertions that taste comes first. We ordered and received, soggy with flavourless oil, oversized and unseasoned Chicharrones.Polenta, again with a layer of oil, probably cooked on too low heat, accompanied with a flavourless rosemary and parmigiano aioli.Excellent sourdough bread with flavourless butter.Gnocchi - which they helpfully named potato gnocchi (are there any other kind...) - fried, again in a flavourless oil, and I assume grana padano rather than parmigiano reggiano. uneventful. Finally steambuns, with pork ribs and kimchi. The buns and the pork ribs were good, although more pork rib filling would be nice. The kimchi was an insult to kimchi. When I commented on the fact that the kimchi tasted more like coleslaw with shrimp paste than proper fermented kimchi, she explained that they had toned it down since this was a provincial town outside Oslo. This was not toned down kimchi, but rather made by a clueless and incompetent chef. And, yeah, we had a drink before dinner in the bar. It felt like I was back in my university dorm common room, so I dug it! My date was not so amused.Such a shame, what a missed opportunity!
Where to eat European food in Tonsberg: The Best Restaurants and Bars

Coffeeshop and lunch place with tasty food and fresh coffee. They also have a large selection of cakes. Unpretentious place with a cozy and warm atmosphere.
This cafe is a lively place on Saturdays, packed with people. Despite that, the place has a relaxed ambience. The food is good for norwegian cafe-standards, and the prices are average. But they need "the little extra" to lift them from an average-rating. Their pre-fabricated pizza-buns is one example. Every place serving pizza should make it from scratch. The so-called famous chili-burger is also OK, but not more (and where is the chili?), and for some reason they serve it in a grand, deep pasta-plate, which makes it impossible to eat with knife and fork. From before, the burger is uneatable with hands. When we are with friends or family visiting a cafe, we want delicate food that is easy to eat without looking rediculous. You have to pick up your drinks yourself at the desk (why?), and the food is served at the table. But the ones who serve do not always know who shall have the food, so they walk around the restaurant saying loudly "who shall have this pizza? And this Chicken-salad?". A little disturbing and definitely unnecessary. The location is close to perfect, and it could have been even better, if the crossroad outside the large windows were turned into a little pedestrians plaza. In this Summer-city, this plaza could have been giving this corner of the town status as "little Italy". Just remove the cars, put up a fountain and a statue of someone important, and then lay down some cobblestones and you're there. I hereby urge the cafes and restaurants in the block to convince the politicians in the town. If Babels Cafe move out in the street in the little plaza during Summer, almost no-one can beat them. Especially if they sharpen their menu, and get some specialities they can be really proud of.

Restaurant, a la carte, Woodfired brickowen Pizzeria, Bar. Night club. Dockside terrace. Seat 250 innside and 100 terrace. Tonsbergs Venue!
My husband and I enjoyed a good fishmeal this evening at Esmeraldas. From the winelist it looked like the price of a glass of whitewine was about NOK 100. I just asked for a glass and they served me half a glass of chablis, no one mentioned the price: NOK 139,- or 16 US$... The food was tasty there, but the owner is much too greedy.Hi Kristin,Iâm glad to hear about your nice meal, but not so about your experience with the wine. Our waiters are not to serve a more expencive wine than our house wine if just asked for a glas of wine. Iâll make shure they get the message again.

Restaurant Paparazzi for food and wine lovers
This restaurant have excellent food. It is right on the docks and a great place to relax. On this visit i ordered a burger, it was great. I added fries to my order the next time the waitress passed our table, but I never got them. That is not good enough, I expected the fries to arrive after the burger, but never saw them. Hard to get the waitress attention so I just gave up.

The food was ok although a limited menu. The place is rather loud but still we were refused to buy more drinks even though we only had a couple of beers. Quite unprofessional and rude service.

We went for lunch in a beautiful sunny day with the temperature-6.The interior is typical of the norwegian tradition. Wood skillfully worked. We took a fish soup, mussels and a peculiar sandwich with meat and vegetables inside.Nothing really special but good enough to have the pleasure of eating it. One beer one mineral water total: 613 krowns.Service in the normal average.Could go back.
