We rented an airbnb from Christiana, who owns and runs Pan e Vin Bar. What a wonderful host and cafe. If you can, sit outside to people watch and just take in the view of the beautiful spot. The breakfast was so good. The juice was squeezed on the spot. The croissants, baked goods, and bread delicious as well. Just a charming spot perfect for breakfast, lunch, or quick refresher.

We stumbled upon this restaurant near the station.Lovely, fresh, home cooked food. One of the best meals we had during a 2 week trip to Italy.Would recommend highly, it will test your Italian as well :-) ..Away from the tourist trap restaurants. My husband said it was the best seafood linguine and swordfish he had ever had, very generous portions of fresh fish.

In the lower part of Riomaggiore, the outdoor tables are arranged along a romantic downhill road that leads to the water, almost a large slide between moored boats and picturesque houses. Seriousness in the kitchen as in the service accompany seafood dish
We enjoyed a lovely meal here accompanied by one of their "hyperlocal" vermentino wines, with the dau Cila label. The food is second to none. We enjoyed fresh oysters from Brittany, a baked turbot filet with pesto and spaghetti with fresh anchovies. The waiters were all very nice, spoke fluent English which was helpful, and were very knowledgable about the menu and wines. However, they seemed very disorganized and harried. There was a big party going on inside and that seemed to take up a lot of effort from the wait staff. We waited quite a while between our oysters and receiving our primi and salad. At one point, our first waiter brought out oil and balsamic vinegar for our salad, only to come back 20 mins later to try and take them away, despite us not having received the salad. Then all the food arrived at once. We had 4 different people wait on us during a 2 hour meal. I think if they wanted to get to the next level of excellence , they need to work on being more organized.

Wow, what a find! This is a beautiful location overlooking the sea giving spectacular views. The evening menu is small but done well, the food is delicious. The servers were really helpful and recommended some local wines. We also tried the local dessert wine sciacchetra which we loved so much we ended up buying a bottle!! Thankyou for giving us an unforgettable evening!Grazie Amy.

Excellent starters of tuna tartare and amber jack carpaccio. Taglialoni vongole e bottarga was a particular highlight. The staff were wonderful, making sure we weren't blown away by the incoming weather. Our waitress was particularly accommodating and friendly and we had a great meal. If you're after seafood with a great view this is it!

PLEASE NOTE: OUR PLACE IS NOT A RESTAURANT No reservation is required. Closed in case of bad weather.
I called to ask for a table next to the water since it was my birthday. Turns out, all the tables offer excellent views of the water/sunset. Simone (host at front) was so gracious. Not a large menu but reasonably priced and good food. My waiter was kind and funny, despite the large crowds.

We walked up the hill each night we were here to enjoy our gin and tonics and delicious food. The location is set amongst the buildings under the clock tower. Over looking the sea below and vine yards above. Hospitality is fantastic and the ladies who owned the cafe made us feel like locals after the 2nd visit. Sit and watch the tourists stroll by or the locals who meet on the bench every night for a chat. Worth the effort to walk up the hill

If you are in Portovenere, you should definetely visit Il Timone. The location is great, not very crowded but nice view on the sea. The pizza's are all great (we tried a few), and also the local dishes like fried anchovis and farinata (chickpea pancakes) I can recommend. Friendly staff. Not very expensive.
