Mansfield (/ˈmænzˌfiːld/) is a market town in Nottinghamshire, England. It is the main town in the Mansfield local government district and is a part of the Mansfield Urban Area. Nestling in a pocket within the Maun Valley surrounded by hills, the town is around 12 miles (19 km) north of Nottingham. The district of Mansfield is a largely urban area situated in the north west of Nottinghamshire populated by 99,600 residents, the vast majority of whom live in Mansfield (including Mansfield Woodhouse), with Market Warsop a secondary centre, and the remainder in the rural north of the district. Adjacent to the urban area of Sutton-in-Ashfield, Mansfield is the only major sub-regional centre in Nottinghamshire covering an area of 30 square miles (78 sq km). The Centre for Cities (2009) categorises the town as a 'small city', although it does not officially hold city status.

My New Years Resolution is to go here more often. Lovely staff. The best pies. A good mixture of down to earth, friendly people. Quirky wallpaper. Games, books and magazines. Log fire. What more could anyone need!

We stopped for a drink on the way back from a Christmas market and it was packed. Everyone was eating and the food looked amazing, we will eat here at some point. The beer was good and plenty of drinks to choose from. I pass the pub in the summer and its always busy outside, its a great place for a drink in the sun. A good place thats well worth a visit.

I booked, pretty last minute, only two days in advance for 7 adults and four, aged between 8 and 10 years children (11 for those who cannot count), for 12 noon on Sunday; i.e. busy time. Booking no problem. We came in dribs and drabs, ordered and received drinks and the waitress kept a casual eye on us as to when we all presant. Gave indivual orders, just about all different, arrived all at the same time thirty minutes later. Enjoyed by all, ordered and received various deserts, again enjoyed. Whole exercise excellant, staff friendly and helpful, as quick as could be expected, menu choice for adults and children very good and food itself very good and very reasonably priced. This establishment is local for my wife and myself and we come here, just the two of us, every month or so; never a complaint. I read with astonishment criticism from some and am left wondering wether we are taliking about the same place! Full marks to staff and Management and confirm that I have no financial or other connection with the Foxglove. Phil
