Hawkes is a tradional pub on scale lane in the heart of Hull’s historic Old Town ,Hawkes takes its name from William Hawkes, a gunmaker who manufactured bespoke guns and rifles at the premises back in 1810
A fabulous, traditional real ale pub with very welcoming hosts Adam and Holly, who have really done a fantastic job of keeping the pub true to its roots and Alex is a credit to the place, her knowledge of the industry and ales, despite her younger years is brilliant, keep up the good work guys ????

Situated near the Museums Quarter in Hull’s historic Old Town, Ye Olde Black Boy offers a good selection of real ales and ciders, and a lovely log fire during the winter. Come and try one of our traditional/flavoured pork pies and soak in all the history this historic pub holds. You won't be disapointed, it is the perfect retreat all year round.
This is a lovely old-fashioned historic pub (the oldest pub in Hull, licensed since 1729) with a great mix of clients, including city workers, tourists and students, all having a good time. It is located in a very narrow cobbled medieval street, High Street, in Hull's old town. We made the trip as fans of Philip Larkin, the poet, as this was one of his favourite pubs in Hull. There are 2 charming bars downstairs, with dark brown wood panelling, and a third bar upstairs bar. The service is friendly and there are lots of great ales, with the pub serving 3 regular beers, Camerons Strongar, Otter Bitte and Wye Valley HPA. There was a welcome open fire on a cold evening and we investigated the darkened back rooms where skulls and bones are embedded in the walls. There are live music sessions on Wednesday evenings, usually by folk groups; if busy the pub may stay open to midnight Friday to Sunday. Overall, a great pub with a timeless relaxing atmosphere - recommended.

Great old style pub hidden away in the old town. Great cheap Sam Smiths beer. Traditional landlord and landlady who are unfortunately moving on. Just a pub full of beer and Hull people.
