Visited this pub last Friday. On the main stretch beside the river. Went in as was advertising craft beers which attracted the husband. Stayed because not only did it have a great range of craft beers (which the barman offered to let him have a taste of before buying a full pint), but also had a good range of gins and other drinks. In addition the live music provided by The Sparrows was fantastic. This bar is small and felt snug and full of character, cushions were provided for those sitting on the church style benches near the back. A back room had a pool table. The atmosphere was great and the barmen couldnt have been any nicer or more welcoming. Am definitely going back for a visit. If you like your ales and old style hospitality with some good music (but not your modern techno), then this is definitely worth a visit. Great places to eat along this stretch so a great evening can be had all round.

Located in the town of Fenor in County Waterford is an artist who is sculpting by Chainsaw, from felled trees. His name is John Hayes and following a course in Chainsaw Carving is now undertaking a giant angel in the churchyard in this village. A damaged tree which was 300 years old was going to be felled, but now has been reborn as Angels. It seems to be finished and currently it displays four angels at the topmost points of the tree with the Holy Spirit, in the form of a dove above praying hands, just below them. Mary is shown below this at the base offering Hope to all who come. The carving is 45 feet high and 8 feet wide and I think this will provide a much loved succour to locals and visitors alike. I would like to see an explanation pamphlet prepared as to the artists’ motivation and the story behind why he carved the figures he did.

Hi Niall and team, Just want to commend you on your take away monkfish. We ordered the monkfish, chicken goujons and a pepperoni pizza. We have had the pizza and chicken plenty of times (always excellent) but the fish was only beautiful, I’m not a big fish fan, but this has converted me, maybe because it was so fresh and still piping hot when I got home. ( we are only up the road). Service was super, rang in the order, was given a time of 15 mins later. When I arrived to collect it, the hand sanitizer were all over the bar, tape on the ground to ensure everyone was kept at a distance, payment by card so no contact. Excellent service and food and all within strict covid guidelines. Well done to you and your team.
