A group of us had dinner at this surprising restaurant in Thames. The menu was sophisticated, the portions were generous and the food was divine. But the stars of the evening were the hosts and staff. It feels like you are an honoured guest in their home. Iâll be back.

On our second visit through Thames, we stopped at this Cafe for lunch. Like the first time, the food was fresh and beautifully presented. Well worth stopping for a light lunch or a more substantial meal.

My husband and I had an impromptu lunch date today at the Club. First thing that impressed us was the roaring fire and cosy fireside seating-so inviting on a cold winter's day but there were also sunny window seats to sit in and enjoy the natural heating. The decor is vintage country club and its especially perfect for winter gatherings. I chose the smaller size smoked salmon salad wrap and wished I had chosen the larger size - the flavours were amazing! very delicious Moccacino too, Service was prompt and efficient. Will certainly be going back there to try out other things on the menu.

Ok, I have tried a lot of burgers over the years, and in my 20 yrs in Canada, have been to some highly recommended burger joints. And out of all the tasteings, we managed to develo what I thought was one of the best burgers around. Guess I was wrong. When we got back to NZ, my wife started researching great burgers, and persuaded me to try Mad Burger when we were in town. My thoughts were why waste money on something I rule at. Wow, best burger ever eaten. And the friendly owner, his attention to quality and willingness to stop and chat. We will be back. And hopefully I will have room after the burger to try the amazing looking cheesecakes..

This has to be one of the best fish and chips shops I have ever eaten at. The seafood is fresh and cooked perfectly. The Kumar chips were delicious and the prawns amazing. All this and reasonably priced. Will definitely visit again.

We both had a steak and chips dinner here. The steaks were cooked spot on to our requests. The meat quality was excellent, so very, very tender. Not overloaded with chips, just a few big chunky ones. Best onion rings ever with a light crunchy batter. Also ordered a side of wilted crunchy greens, yummy. Interesting items on display, old telephones, radios, mirrors etc made for a great atmosphere. Great staff. Certainly recommend. Free wifi

After a slow trip from Auckland, we had a late breakfast and to say it was good is not rite, it was heaven. The food was to die for, service was fast, meals were , well the plates were clean at the end of the meal.

Staff were cheerful and friendly. Lots of choices of where to sit and as a beautiful day, found a pleasant courtyard. Other peoples food looked lovely and hubby had a carrot cake and cream, which he thoroughly enjoyed. The waitress thoughtfully brought a fork for me too. Hubby had coffee and I had a lime green tea. Both very good. Just a lovely cafe all round and would recommend

Only Vegetarian Cafe/Restaurant in Thames, Gateway to the Coromandel. We are located on Pollen Street, Grahamstown, northern end of Thames. Also offering Vegan, Gluten Free and Dairy free options.
3 of us spent 3 hours catching up at Sola last Monday. It was a horrible day and the tiny heater on the wall was having a tough time warming up the cafe. The coffees were the highlight and served in beautiful mugs. I was pleased to see they had a decent looking vegan menu and ordered the mushrooms on lovely fresh pandoro 5 grain toast. The others had the tomato soup and creamy mushrooms on toast and were well pleased with their choices - however when they saw mine, I could tell they felt sorry for me. My choice of vegan mushrooms was the saddest looking plate of food I've ever been served, although it ate better then it looked. But come on guys, this really let you down, vegan food can look way better with this with just a little more effort. Everything else in the cabinet look great and all homemade cakes I believe too.
