The Chūbu region (中部地方, Chūbu-chihō), Central region, or Central Japan (中部日本) is a region in the middle of Honshū, Japan's main island. Chūbu has a population of 21,715,822 as of 2010.. It encompasses nine prefectures (ken): Aichi, Fukui, Gifu, Ishikawa, Nagano, Niigata, Shizuoka, Toyama, and Yamanashi.

Because tokoname is too near the airport, it does not receive as many visitors as it should. If you arrive by train, go to the visitors bureau in the corridor straight in front of the Meitetsu exit for the train. It is a few shops down on the left side. They are helpful and have maps

Kanazawa is one of few cities spared by bombing in WWII and the buildings are originals going back into the Edo Period; this is one of the neighborhoods that shows that history. It is must see when in the city.
