The Falconry Centre

Reviewed By TessS66 - Olympia, United States

My husband and I booked the all day bird handling with eagles and vultures package and we loved every minute of it. Our falconers were wonderful and made sure we handled more birds than were guaranteed. I had a special request to be able to handle both new and old world vultures and they made an extra effort to make that happen. They let me know up front they couldn't promise that because birds go off show to molt and have bad days, but they would make a note. I got lucky and was able to hold both a new and old world vulture. Andy is wonderful, I can't imagine anyone not enjoying his company. One thing to be aware of is you go through a garden center (store) to get to the center, that threw us off when we were looking for it. It's nothing to worry about just be aware when you park at the garden center you are where you need to be.

We had a lovely morning with Ginnie and the alpacas and were able to feed them and get up close. We had an experience meeting and feeding the boy alpacas first and then onto the girls (who were a bit more feisty) and then the mums and baby alpacas. We finished by walking the two males (Ewan and Cosmo) and taking them through the obstacle course. Ginnie was extremely knowledge about the animals and it was great to learn so much about them and get up close to them. Would highly recommend this experience to anyone!

Having attempted several days out with the kids over the summer, this has been the best experience in the area by a long way. Covid-19 safety measures were very well thought out and because they were frequently signposted around the setting, the vast majority of visitors were adhering to them. They have introduced a one way system (with some optional shortcuts for tired legs) that genuinely work and personally I think the whole experience is all the better for it as it reduces pinch points. Staff were a visible presence, cleaning frequently and all were friendly and affable. Numbers allowed in have been clearly well managed so everyone gets their own space and ample time to explore all that’s on offer. Always loved visiting All Things Wild and our children thoroughly enjoy the range of experiences available and how there’s always something a little different every time. Post-Covid set-up is perfect. Well done All Things Wild, you’ve nailed it.

Arley Arboretum

These beautiful historic gardens and arboretum dating back to the late 1700's are surrounded by over 1600 acres of countryside within the picturesque village of Upper Arley beside the river Severn. In addition to providing wonderful walks through the 300 ancient trees of the arboretum there are walks along the banks of the river, all set in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside with far reaching views. Go back in time and watch the Severn Valley Railway trains steam across the hill from one of the magnificent signposted walks. An ideal day out for you and your family with an adventure play area and a maze for the kids as well as interactive trails and seasonal events. The Italian Garden with feature fountains and formal planting is a must see along with our Magnolia Garden, 65m laburnum arch, Camilla walk, Acer amd the majestic autumn colours. There is a wonderful garden tea room, serving homemade food and a delicious array of cakes and speciality hot and cold drinks.

Wanted to take mum out for the afternoon & opted for Arley. Been meaning to go for ages & finally got round to it. So glad we did because it was a perfect afternoon with sunshine & a easy walk around the site taking in some marvellous tree specimens. Café was average in décor & food - opted for tea & a bacon buttie. Staff were friendly & efficient. Recommended.

We walked through Tiddesley Woods as part of a circular walk from Pershore Abbey. Really enjoyable stretch of woodland, and we then crossed the A4104 and carried on along the River Avon back into the town to the Pershore Bridges car park (free parking).

Knapp & Papermill Reserve

A beautiful 27 hectare nature reserve of orchard, meadow and woodland nestled in the valley of the Leigh Brook.

Reviewed By Jackdog1947 - Macclesfield, United Kingdom

We visited whilst on holiday nearby. The Reserve is in a beautiful, peaceful location, due to this parking is a bit limited but we did visit during the school holidays. The trails are well marked with items of interest. In addition paths led off to various other locations. During our visit quite a number of volunteers were at work on various project. A previous visitor had remarked about school children "stomping around in wellies" WELL good for them and full marks to their teachers I say, there's plenty of room here for all to enjoy and great for children to learn whilst being outdoors. Very well worth a visit.
