We arrange jungle trekking tours through the rainforest of Gunung Leuser National Park, starting from the village Bukit Lawang, located in northern Sumatra,Indonesia. It is one of the last places in the world where you have the unique chance to observe the rare Sumatran orangutan in his natural habitat. The Gunung Leuser National Park is further habitat for many other species of exotic animals, flowers and plants. Since 2004, the tropical rainforests of the Gunung Leuser National Park together with 2 more national parks on Sumatra, are part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
We travelled with Trailfinders. The organisation was superb. We had a guide for our 3-day stay called Gandar who was very knowledgeable and thoughtful. A ranger called Ayub was assigned for the Orang Utan trek; frankly he was a genius, we saw eight including one very close encounter. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend any aspect.

We started the business on a small scale. However, when we saw that the island of Sumatra was an attraction in the future, we decided to expand this area by providing various services to tourists from within and from outside the country.
The EcoTravel team is fantastic, taking care of every detail of the journey and giving comprehensive support during trips for a very reasonable price. Such a honest approach to the client and efforts to make the client satisfied are rare. It was an unforgettable and perfectly organized trip.

It was one of the best experience. I got to bathe the elephants, they liked to play.....so cute. I read articles mentioning tat the elephants are being tortured but looks like things have changed. Nice experience, did a day trip from Medan city. Road towards the camp is rough, be prepared for jerky car ride. In the end, all is worthy. Enjoy your trip.....

Fortunately we read at the forum about Mr. Satiman, the director of CV sumatra tour and travel. Usually its not easy to travel in Sumatra, but with Mr. Satiman it is very easy. He is a very friendly and well organized guide. We had not much time for our holidays and wanted from Dumai to the Banyak Islands. I think we were lost without Mr. Satimans help in any situation. He organized our trip perfect. Even short time wishes were fulfilled immediately and we could reach him at any time. His private taxi drivers were very experienced and always in time. He organized accomidation and a speedboat to the magnificent Banyak islands. It was an incredible experience to stay with our so friendly and helpful host family.
