A stretch of sandy beach north of the city.
A beautiful beach with large sand dunes and amazing views of the north sea with windfarm in the distance. Ideal for a family day out or a sunset walk with a loved one.

This historic bridge has stood since the early 14th century and once served as an important line of communication between Aberdeen and other medieval coastal towns.

Lovely unspoilt beach that is much quieter than the main Aberdeen beach. Great for any length of walk, the sand at the start can be quite hard going, but you can move onto damper sand once round at the north sea. If lucky you can see seals in the river and sea. Walk to one of the war time pill boxes, some are in good condition. Enjoy a walk on an unspoilt beach. Plenty of beach to walk on even at full tide. Lovely for walking the dog.

Allow a couple of hours to walk around this pleasant woodland reserve. Directions on the SWT website are not the clearest. Park in the Braes of Gight car park on the Methlick to Fyvie Road, and take the forestry track by the entrance to the car park, which heads initially downhill, and leads in about a kilometre to Gight Castle ruins. A swing gate at the side of,the Castle ruins gives access to the Reserve. There is a well made footpath around the woods, which drops down to the river, over a footbridge and along the river bank to another bridge where a siff climb up leads back to the Castle (about 3-4 km).

This walk can be as long or short as you want, with many different paths to choose from. My kids loved exploring the wooded areas and spotting rabbits and a pheasant
