This zoo is PERFECT for little kids. It's just the right size to see everything before they get tired/cranky and has rest places (including a slide through the otters and a series seperate playground) and restrooms in just exactly the right places. Definitely bring a stroller for kids under 4 or so though. Even when the parking lot is packed, it does not feel busy or crowded inside. My kids' favorite things are the giraffes, orangutans (where you can often see the baby), and the two-headed snake, which is in the Brazos River room, and of course all the places to play. We have zoo membership passes and regularly visit from ~30 miles away - it's SO worth it.

Emmons Cliff, Lovers Leap and the whole nine yards just acres and acres of beauty. All 400 acres plus is a thing of beauty. In my youth there were not any restraints at places like Lovers Leap and we did some very crazy things in the park.

I stumbled among this beautiful park by accident. The grounds are very well kept and beautiful. They have plenty of area for a picnic, bike riding or leaning against a tree to read a good book.

We visited Waco Lake at the Lake Waco RV Park and Marina. It is a beautiful lake with several parks available to access and enjoy the lake. You can pull your boat up to the Minnow restaurant and enjoy some food and music, go fishing, sailing or tubing or just sit by the lake and watch the seabirds. Travel to the east side of the lake and you will feel far away from the City. It is like another world. We hope to come back with our boat to enjoy the water and do some fishing!

Well here's why. Doris Miller served in WW2 in the US Navy and was African American. He was told he would get no where in the Navy due to the color of his skin. Doris Miller who was by the way a Waco native was the only US navy personnel to shoot back at the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor firing a 50 caliber anti aircraft gun which he was not trained to use. It is believed that he downed 1 to 4 Japanese zeros during the attack. for this he was the first African American to receive the Navy Cross. two years later he died when his ship was sunk by a Japanese torpedo. The Navy just announced that the new Aircraft Carrier CVN81 will be named the USS Doris Miller. At the park is a statue of Doris and the same park contains the suspension bridge and Chisholm Trail Statues mentioned in another review. There is also a walking path along the Brazos River through the park

This is an awesome place to go for a walk. Nice concrete pathway, walking bridge under the highway, plenty of parking and busy enough to feel safe. Path is long enough to make it worth while. Nice scenery, you will meet cyclists, joggers, and walkers. Don't recommend summer, unless you are an early bird. Obvious reasons. We live in central Texas.

We visit Midway Park in our motor home on a very regular basis. It has been tough being able to visit in the last couple of years with all of the flooding that has shut the parks down for major repairs. Midway is very convenient to make it around the city and its surroundings. One of the nicest things about Midway is that you do not feel like you are in a can of sardines as you do in many parks. In places like KOA you are a sardidne.
