Did the Full Ocoee trip with Raft1 and had a blast! Our raft guide Dylan2 took us on his first solo-guiding trip of the Upper and he did a great job! Raft1 was efficient and professional with fun but responsible guides. Overall a great day on the river. Would highly recommend!

Cherokee National Forest

Breathtakingly beautiful mountainous forest: great for hiking.

Reviewed By Itinerant_Foodies - Greensboro, United States

Gorgeous views while driving the Cherohala Skyway and plenty of hiking opportunities as well as opportunities for viewing various water falls. We stayed at the Indian Boundary Campground, about 16 miles from Tellico Plains. It's in a great location around a beautiful lake, a large campground area that is well-managed, and a hiking trail around the lake that offers many great views. Note that the campground has electric connections but not water at the sites themselves. However, there are a multitude of water spigots around the campground loops making it easy to get more water if you run dry. There are also plentiful trash receptacles around the campground making it easy to keep the area clean.

Alum Cave Trail

One of the most popular hikes in the park, it is the quick route to Mt. LeConte Lodge.

Reviewed By explorcation - Florida, United States

This trail is known to be the most hiked trail in the Smokies and for good reason. It follows a river in the beginning, takes you through a naturally formed rock arch and leads you to the Alum Cave Bluffs. You can decide how far you want to take the trail. If you want to do a full day hike you can take it all the way to the Mount LeConte peak! Hiking to the peak can take between 6 to 10 hours depending on your pace and how frequently you stop. The whole trail is so beautiful it would be hard to not stop frequently. This area is very popular, so arrive early to get a spot in the parking lot. During our visit many cars had to park along the side of the road. If you are planning a trip and want to see some video footage of the Alum Cave Trail check out our Alum Cave Trail hiking video on our YT Channel Explorcation. The link is in our bio. It also includes some more tips for visiting. Happy trip planning!

Fiery Gizzard Trail

The scenery is stunning & picture postcard perfect. The trails are well marked (follow the small orange signs on trees), can be very rugged. Watch for large rocks & tree trunks hidden under fallen leaves. It's a fabulous full day workout.

My husband and I have been several times and we have a blast every time we go! I could spend all day just watching the fish swim around it's so relaxing. There is a new exhibit called "island life" which is so cool! There's more fish and turtles and lizards in this exhibit. If you go during March, April, or May be prepared to fight off armies of little dudes on their school field trips ???? Be sure to look for Oscar the sea turtle when you're in the ocean journey building! ????????

Whether for the usual attractions or exploring this beautiful mountain, it is worth the short trip from Chattanooga. You can ride the incline to the top or drive to see the beautiful historic homes, famous Rock City with Lovers Leap, Point Park, Ruby Falls or explore nature at Lula Lake Falls or watch the Hang-gliders jump from the cliffs and soar over the valleys. Great day trip!
