Me and my husband visited this charming falls as a trail from kolakham village, Joyee Palace. The fall is 2.75 km from the homestay as per checkpost. All the way you will hear the sound of the water stream( name unknown) deep inside the jungle, sometime you will be able to get glimpse. The best part of the trail is when the checkpost says Changey 0 km. there is rocky mountain, the river stream flowing downward, but no fall. Mesmerized with the view we asked a local, he said we have walk a km more till the last shop and then 900 mt down trek to reach the fall. We found another homestay named "paradise view" there. The surrounding is really nice. We carried on our walk in search of the last shop and took the "semi stair" downward path to the fall. We were mesmerized by the first view of the waterfall. From the breadth of the stream, we never expected the fall to be so attractive and surrounding to be so charming. A virgin natural beauty. The 100 mt fall, 300 mt reservoir, the rustic way the place has been maintained all adds to its charm. The outward stream goes inside a conical hole of a rock and becomes invisible; somewhere meets with Neora river inside the valley. It rocks and must do for the small adventure feeling. Though the path is not Himalayan trek in that sense, but use shoes with good grip. Wear lightware; otherwise comming up will be uneasy. After coming up people can enjoy refreshments in those couple of shop and drive back to lava or forward move to lunchu or mankhim. We took beer and bamboo shoot pickle and walk back to our homestay for a tasty lunch and a lovely nap.

The Jaldhaka River valley is undoubtedly a hidden treasure..The Jaldhaka river flows between India and Bhutan and visiting this place was an amazing experience. The greenery was captivating and the chirping of the innumerable birds made me feel the futility of the city life that we crave for. With no mobile network Jaldhaka river valley is the best place to unwind!!

A big beautiful monastery is located on this hill. We went during prayer time and it was so peaceful experience. From the topmost floor of the monastery bird's eye view of the small town of kalimpong is just wonderful. According to local guide it was called "durbin" meaning binocular hill. Nowadays it's called durbin. One of the best attractions of kalimpong located very close to the town. Must visit when in kalimpong

Well many has written about the serenity of this place but none has mentioned about the road to canopy walk from here. So I decided to write about it. In May 2016 me and my friend visited charkhole for 3days. As it is a small habitation with fewer small hamlets, and there's nothing much ACTIVITIES(birdwatchers has a lot to do though) we decided to visit canopy bridge in lolegaon. When we asked our homestay manager Mr Vijay about cars, he gave us the idea of walking instead of spending 1500 Rs up and down on jeeps. We started at 8am in the morning after heavy breakfast. The road is from behind the famous blue pine lodge and passes through a small habitation. after 15 min or so, there are a few turn and bends which our manager had explained us elaborately in a map that he had drawn for us. we took the road as he directed, mostly followed "left behind traces of new age consumerism"(read plastic wrap of chips, wafers, candys and gutkha: trust me they will definitely show you the way if in any case you are lost):P There are no certain road, the one you usually get in a common trek route. There's only a trail. Which is awesome. I travel a lot, I hike a lot, but I will never ever forget the silence of that one hour of walk. We seldom talked, the silence got us. It was so much like feeling drunk only here the SERENITY has got you. You are bound to love it especially if you like silence. However there are leeches, there are chances that you might stray. There are leeches which sucks your blood in such a unique style that the bleeding wont stop easily even if you remove it. :P After 1hour of treks through the serene forest we reached a main road from where we took a left turn and reached canopy bridge after another 20 mins of main road walk. Canopy walk is good, theres an entry fee of 10 rupees or so, a small shop that sells momo, maggi and hot tea was there. My water bottle fell from my bag in the forest, and i was so thirsty after the walk i almost drank one ltre of water(take a water bottle with you). We came back following the same way. stopped near the BSNL tower at charkhole and enjoyed the sunset. Next morning we went on the charkhol top. One can get a 360 degree view from there. If you are physically fit and mentally prepared this is a must go trail.

It was a memorable part of our Dooars trip-from Chalsa we reached Rocky Island within an hour. We got down from car and walked to the river bed as it was winter. Crystal clear cool water and soothing breeze-unforgettable experience.
