Kitty's Gorge Walk

Kitty’s Gorge is one of the beautiful walks accessible from the historic town of Jarrahdale. Just an hour’s drive south west of Perth, this is a great day trip for a walk and lunch at the winery or one of the cafes. The Kitty Gorge Walk is both child and dog-friendly and with walks of all different lengths (1km, 5km or the 14km loop) it has something for everyone. The walk is a moderate one with some steep sections, and goes from Goorolong Park, Jarrahdale to or from the Serpentine Falls.

Excellent bush walk, very nice landscape and near to flowing water for most of the trail. We went early and dressed warm as it was quite cold there, watch closely for the signs as we missed some and wasted a bit of time getting back on track. Walk took about 4 hours starting from the serpentine falls side which is a bit shorter than the other way as we did not go all the way to the car park which is the start point from the other side. Probably a reasonable level of fitness required as it can be a bit of a climb especially around the falls and you my be lugging a pack on some uneven ground and with fallen trees to get over. Highly recommended.

Baldwins Bluff Nature Trail

We did this trail with 4 kids, aged between 9 and 12. The ascend was steep but it wasn't impossible. The last 1.3km to the lookout was mostly flat which was a nice break from the incline. Reaching the lookout was amazing. The views from above were spectacular. Serpentine falls looked so small and the air above was so fresh. The descend was a little shaky as the rocks were quite unstable. I recommend finding a nice sturdy stick for stability. The overall trail was great and if you don't mind a bit of a challenge, definitely give it a go.
