Pre's Trail is named after the famed runner, Steve Prefontaine. It is such a great running trail which meanders through lush trees and it relatively flat. McKenzie River National Recreation Trail

Reviewed By ShirleyG958 - Springfield, United States

Great hiking trail for all skill levels. Families would do well on this trail. I loved that the trail is close to the river, wide, and very little poison oak or mosquitos. Be sure allow lots of time and take a camera. My suggestion would be to go during a weekday if possible. The trail can get pretty busy during the weekends. A September hiking area after summer campers have left would be idea. If you don't mind crowds then combine your hike with a camping experience.

Amazing park: went for a 5-mile run with my buddy, it was amazing. You get your choice of trails: asphalt, soft redwook bark, or even riverside rugged. Plenty of space on the wide trails. Lots of variety. Looks like kayaking would be nice in the canals. A good looking frisbee golf course. Conveniently located to the Residence Inn across the street.

Simply the best urban bikeway in Oregon and that is some pretty tough competition. Once the Riverwalk is done, both sides of the river will be connected with this path. Drops you right into downtown Eugene or all the way out to Doris Ranch.

It's SO nice that this river isn't fenced-in, or over-developed on its banks in Eugene. Instead, there are walking trails, an endless bike system with countless bike and pedestrian-only bridges, wild riverbanks, gorgeous trails and islands and sunning rocks. Nature provides superb surprises here.

Cascades Raptor Center

Nestled on a wooded hillside in south Eugene, this nature center and wildlife hospital specializes in birds of prey. Some 50 resident birds of 30 native species are on display, including owls, falcons, hawks, to bald and golden eagles. Open Tues-Sun and some major Mon holidays.

Reviewed By 759frankp - Eugene, United States

Had no idea how great this was going to be. It is a self directed tour. The Center does great work. One of the nice things is you move along at your own pace. So when you connect emotionally with a bird you can stand there as long as you like. Maps help you get around and the placard are well done. Keepers/volunteers are very informative and helpful. The center is on the side of a hill so there is walking downhill and up. We were there on a beautiful day. I would assume it is a bit tougher on a rainy day.

Skinner Butte Park

Reviewed By jacquelinej757 - Kalispell, United States

I love the historical parts of this Butte. I love seeing the mansion, and the drive up, getting out for the views... and I love the park nearby as it has interesting playground equipment which is a rarity these days. There is a whale the kids can climb on and inside of... and it is painted pretty colors. I love the swings and the interesting little log cabin. The trails in the park were amazing to walk and our children used their scooters and skateboards for nice long sections. The river next to the park is of course gorgeous.
