Cartagena, a gorgeous fishing village on Colombia's Caribbean coast, has excellent beaches, a historic old town (that's entirely walkable) and beautiful colonial architecture. It's also one of the safest places in the country, so it's no wonder it's a popular port of call for cruise ships. Need a break from exploring the cobblestone streets? Stop at an outdoor cafe for excellent pastries and people-watching.

We rented a boat for a day trip to "Las islas del rosario" the tour included Playa Larga, Isla Grande, Baru & Tierra Bomba, we had tons of fun, we did some snorkeling for about an hour and then just went from place to place on our boat.

The Leandro Díaz Cultural Center offers a quiet, secluded beach, palm huts, swimming pool, restaurant and bar only 30 minutes from the old town. Moreover, we offer activities such as fishing with the local fishermen with their traditional techniques, cooking classes, horse riding on the beach and classes on Colombian folklore, music and dances. A favorite activity is vallenato concerts (Carribbean accordeon-based "country music"), on the beach - a quintessential Colombian experience! A parranda is a vallenato concert for a small audience where the stories of the songs and composers (that always wrote about their own lives) are presented (also in English).
