Strandja Nature Park

Reviewed By hawkm0th - Winchester, United Kingdom

Visitors from all over europe & even Bulgarians were all amazed at the raw beauty of the rocky coastline and pristine beaches. The villages are like a step back in time, Brodilovo & Bulgari are thriving rural idylls with their own soft micro climate. Long dry summers and brief winters, with shoulder seasons often around 15 degrees, at night! Certainly the last refuge for flora and fauna in Europe.

Pomorie Lake

Reviewed By AndreyAndreevFamily - Sofia, Bulgaria

We visited Lake Pomorie during our family summer holiday with two kids aged 1.5 and 5y.yo. The lake is a salty lagoon near the town of Pomorie, famous with its healing mud. The mud lies on the bottom of the lake and you can easily take it and spread on the body. You should stay like this for 15-20 min and then wash with salty water from the lake. Here are the most interesting points of Lake Pomorie: - Museum of salt, located on the shore in the town of Pomorie. In the exposition you can see how salt had been produced from the lake for centuries - Birds. The lake is a famous stop for birds on their way south, through the Via Pontica bird migration route. Various birds can be observed in the lake - Bathe/swim - it is not forbidden but the lake itself is shallow - maximum depth 1.5 m. Moreover, it is 4 times saltier than the Black sea - Pomorie salt ponds - at the northern end of the lake, on the way to Aheloy. The salt evaporation basins are a beautiful view on sunset The sand strip separating the lake from the sea is 5-6 km long and can be walked. Cars are allowed to some point Generally lake Pomorie is a beautiful place for both walks, baths and spending time out. Mid that mosquitoes are present in the summer months near the water
