Cambrian Museum

Cambrian museum is the first specialized paleontology museum in Iran which showcases around 400 examples of fossil remains discovered in the last 30 years around the Iranian plateau particularly those found in the Yazd province. Yazd Art House

Art house Manage by a couple who are Artist and all the sttaf are graduated in art too. This house has different part like Art shop , Art gallery , work shop And a cafe on the roof top. There is an opportunity to go on the rooftop and visit a unique view of old town . For visiting the view there is 1€ Entrance fee which if use the cafe and order you pay it half. In cafe you can try sort of Iranian traditional tea and cold drinks and enjoy some home made vegetarian dishes . This house is part of MalekZadeh mansions dating back to Qajar , the main yard of the house is renovating yet and would be the main part of the Art house With a guesthouse in early future. There is No WiFi and the slogan is : Talk to each other and pretend it is 1980 .

If you like to know more about Irainian ancient religion, this museum is a perfect case. Yazd, someday has been religious central city of Zoroastrianism and today many zoroastrians are living in Yazd. In this nice museum you can get to know various interesting ceremonies zoroastrians have and receive detailed accurate information about this traditional religion. Not bad to mention that the building basically was made by an Indian-Persian zoroastrian benefactor named Markar as an orphanage and today is used as zoroastrians museum and religious school.

The museum, owned by the Regional Water Corporation is set in a buildings of the former Kolahdooz Mansion, built in 1888, and a truly beautiful building. There is everything here you need to know about the old water management system of Iran, which is still functioning today. The mansion itself is fed by the 75km long Zarch qanat which was first dug ca 2000 years ago.

Markar Historical Complex

Markar museum is located in a building dating back to more than eighty years ago with a magnificent and unparalleled architecture. The brick-made building was used as the dormitory for the students of Markar boarding school.

We visited the museum during our stay in Yazd in January 2020. A great introduction to zoroastrianism! The guide Rostam was very knowledgeable and told us many interesting stories about zoroastrian traditions in perfect English.
