Nomadic tribal heritage and modern society co-exist in the UAE, a federation of seven emirates at the southeastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula. Look beyond the desert that consumes four-fifths of its area and you'll find UAE capital Abu Dhabi, an oil-rich city of skyscrapers, parks and malls, and Dubai, with its split personality of luxury resorts and covered marketplaces, upscale boutiques and local artisans. For a break from urban sprawl, journey over rolling red sand dunes into the Hatta Mountains, where the 200-year-old Sharia Mosque sits amid 30 restored buildings of sandalwood and mud.

RAK Nature's Treasures was founded in September 2014. Comprises of a collection of gemstones, fossils, seashells, preserved insects and bugs, taxidermy animals and birds as well as herbs and spices from all over the world. We in RAK Nature's Treasures have established a unique, private museum of natural history in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.
After a very green farm filled and fun 15 - 20 minute drive from the main city area we were greeted to the extraordinarily underappreciated side of Ras al khaimah that many people tend to look past; nature. The atmosphere is fresh, welcoming and beautiful, the large array of artifacts and objects displayed through out the museum, farm and buildings will give you a glimpse in to the history and beauty of rak, all whilst being surrounded by the serenity of nature, such as the corn and cucumber fields. Everyone working there is eager to help you learn and interact with all the elements available, one of my favourites were the potters, making beautiful clay pots live in front of you. Ras al khaimah has a lot to offer to any one visiting or living there, but there's more to it than just it's beautiful beach hotels, jebal jais and laid back cafe's. There's a whole other side that i believe everyone living in or visiting Ras Al Khaimah should visit and take a chance on.

Learn about the flora and fauna of the arabian desert at this fascinating museum that houses farm animals for petting, geology, marine and flora halls and a diorama showing desert habitats.
For AED 15 per ticket you get to enter five halls detailing life on earth since the beginning of time. There are displays of fossils, meteorites, taxidermic animals and desert ecosystems, along with a Islamic botanical garden. Wild Life center for the animals/birds that lived in the region which is so so beautifully maintained. Great fun for family and kids especially the Children’s Farm where your little ones will enjoy feeding some pets like goats, sheep, horses, donkeys and hens.

This intriguing archaeological museum takes visitors through the Stone, Bronze and Iron ages and provides educational games for children, videos in Arabic and English and other creative touches designed to make learning fun.
I decided to go to Museum of Archeology in Sharjah for their temporary exhibition of “The Echo of Caravans: Pre-Islamic Civilization Sites in Saudi Arabia” (until Jan 31, 2019). I enjoyed this exhibition a lot and since getting a tourist visa to KSA is very difficult, I did not want to miss it. Plus KSA is a big country, it requires commitment to visit these major sites on one trip. The museum also houses many precious and significant artifacts from the archeological sites in UAE. There are many things that I love, but specifically, the gold horse bridles. The reconstruction of the tomb of Al Buhais 18 is another favorite - especially how the jewelry of one of the women buried there was excavated as it was found settling on her crushed skull. Very interesting. For archeology enthusiasts, this museum is a must-see.

The only interactive museum in the United Arab Emirates, this exciting science museum lets visitors test their flexibility, create cartoons, study the stars and much more.
Another Sharjah gem and affordable day out. Some displays are blocked off due to Covid rules however what is open is adequate for small children. Nice interactive and interesting displays. Perfect for smaller children ages 5-10 however teenagers might be bored easily. I have rated this a 5/5 as it’s affordable, clean and interesting and it will be much better as well once all the displays are open.

The museum has several exhibitions. Most interesting one is the museum collection with works from many arab countries since second half of the 20th century which is mainly a testimony of the evolution of visual art in the region and also shows how the western styles influenced the regional artists. A small corner of the museum contains "The light of the Orient" which is a collection of Orientalist art of the 19th century owned by HH the Ruler of Sharjah and mainly shows an European view on regional subjects. The exhibitions are very well documented so take your time.

If you appreciate history and culture, plan in spending 1 to 1½ hours exploring this massive palace in its early years of hunting. It feels like going back into the innocent years when money had no meaning or purpose, when life was simple yet accommodated. My husband and I spent 1-1½ hours exploring each room, absorbing the lifestyle in a desert that became an Oasis because of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan. What you see today in the UAE, began with Sheikh Zayed , a very humble man, the one the Emirates greatly admired and finally call "The father of the UAE." Why? Because of his relationship with each tribe and the respect he earned from their tribal leaders, he united these tribes and with their support formed what is now The United Arab Emirates. He believed in the younger generation spending time with the older ones preserves the memories, he believed in Education for his people. I'm not an Emirate, I'm Polynesian, but I so admire the late Sheikh Zayed!
