We saw Setia Darma House of Mask and Puppets recommended in a guide book and put it on our list while in Ubud. First, adjacent to the parking lot, you'll see a small gift shop, selling authentic Balinese masks, shadow puppets, and jewelry. We liked this, but is was rather underwhelming and we sighed. We thought there would be more. Well, keep walking! You WILL find more! On the other side of a park-like green space you will find a museum housed in four buildings (at least). The masks range from tiny to huge, multi-person varieties, meant to be worn during annual festivals and such. The masks came in every size, shape and facial expression. WOW! We went from being underwhelmed to overwhelmed! You will marvel at the shadow puppet collection and the intricate artistry and craftsmanship on display. How could we be the only visitors there? Spent so much time browsing and reading all the cards (English included) that our guide must have wondered where we went. Well designed, well planned, lots of space to walk and admire. What a find! Do not miss this hidden treasure, just a short distance from the Elephant Cave (which was a let down). ENJOY!

We visited Sunsri twice during our honeymoon to Bali. Wow, what a place. First, the store itself is gorgeous. Split in to several rooms each with a different theme, and even scent. The presentation is like nothing we've seen before. Truely an experience. You can even see the jewellery being made, so interesting! Next, the jewellery itself. It's art! If you want pieces which are so individual and beautiful, this is the place. Prices are reasonable for what is involved and how stunning the items are. We bought something for everyone! Finally, the staff. On our second visit, we arrived after they had closed. The times on google aren't 100% correct, so check this before you go. However, a staff member named Windu was outside and about to leave. We explained about the closing time on Google, and he insisted on opening up the entire gallery for us and gave us a private tour. He was SO knowledgeable on every piece, the artists ideas behind them and their making process. He was charming, kind and helpful. We enjoyed talking to him as much as we did the experience. Thank you Windu, we have some beautiful gifts for our family now and we wish you the best luck for the future. 10/10 - 5 stars - Superb.

Our driver took us to this local village to view the Yana Art Gallery. It was much better than expected and the quality was clearly better than similar items we’d seen in the markets. There’s a good sized gallery of woodwork sculptures for sale, but be prepared for higher prices, as the quality and craftsmanship is high. We bought several pieces in our group, and were happy they took credit cards and packaged everything very well for the long trip home. Definitwly worth a visit.
