This is an excellent small museum of local history, well worth the entry. Three adults (one retired) and a child came to 39zl for entry. It is not a massive museum so it does not overload you. There are some interactive exhibits that our daughter used and the guide we had was knowledgeable, good with children and clearly loved her job. Also on the day we visited they had just had a delivery of locally produced amber jewellery in the souvenir shop, they had just put it out and had not even put on the price tags, I was ambushed by the wife and we ended up buying two necklaces and a bracelet, plus other small trinkets. But even this was not overpriced and my beautiful loving wife is worth every Zloty.

This museum is a delight..... a very impressive collection of icons in a museum designed to maximize the impact of seeing them. One big complaint is that the tour is guided (no other option is offered) and quite rushed. I would have loved to see ALL the icons at my pace, sadly it was not possible. Note to management: please reconsider the format.....

I came as part of a geneology trip researching my roots. My family is originally from the Punsk area. I stayed in Suwalki and rsearched the civil records there, then took a couple of trips up to Punsk to visiit the family church and the on-site museum called Muzeum etnograficzne - Stara Plebania which is next to the church (Kościół pw. Wniebowzięcia Najswietszej Maryi Panny) . I was also able to find the graves of my great grandparents in the church cemetery down the street. Also had an excellent lunch at the Lithuanian Restaurant "Rūta". Just like my beloved babcia's cooking! I will be returning!
