This museum is simply amazing and although only open at weekends ( more volunteers needed to extend this!) make sure you visit when next in the Sorrento village. Located at the end of the coastal village - next to the historic Watts cottage that recalls the life of early peninsula pioneers- it profiles so many aspects of local history that Are both known and unknown - from The piano that accompanied Dame Nellie Melba on one of her many visits to the area — the loss of Australia’s Prime Minister Holt at sea nearby and William Buckley’s connection. For those lucky enough to dabble in family history and a local connection there is much to be sourced - and for the rest of us - well there’s just so much to explore - and they have a wonderful selection of souvenir items to take home .

Welcome back! Looking forward to seeing visitors and friends of the gallery again soon. Currently the gallery is open most weekends and by appointment. Hours 11am - 4pm. Please phone before coming to be sure the gallery is open. Enjoy an eclectic range of fine craft works including textiles, wood, glass, ceramics and jewellery, as well as a selection of Persian rugs and kelims. The gallery is known for it’s unique hand-painted ceramic tiles, which have been incorporated into homes and businesses on the Mornington Peninsula, Australia wide and overseas. Located in a natural bush gully setting, the exterior has recently been refurbished, creating a stunning outdoor environment.
Hidden down a driveway off of the White Hill Road, Red Hill is a gem of a gallery. We went to find some ceramic of glass art for a very sunny position in our house that fades everything we put there. Marion was delightful to chat to and she makes great coffee too. There is a great selection of beautifully crafted and completely original tiles with other objects from around the world. It is well worth a visit as the gallery is in a quiet and lovely bush land setting and there are some lovely items on show. We bought a selection of 57mm square tiles for a piece of wall art for our entrance.

Brian the curator was a great story teller. The tour lasted for 2 hours and we learnt a lot about Australian navy history with some very rare artefacts, like the German flag captured in PNG. Never heard of this before. You will have to call in a couple of days before you plan to visit as this is an operational navy base and you will need to be escorted.

Lovely old restored home. Ballam Park Homestead in Frankston is set in Ballam Park, with lovely walks and great playground and bbq facilities. The home is certainly worth a look and has been kept in great condition. There is also a tea room in the grounds which is open on Sunday afternoons. A piece of history, well worth a look.
