Top 10 Museums in Lenox, Massachusetts (MA)

April 3, 2022 Velvet Champine

It seems like every time of year is "in season" in Lenox, a small Berkshire town that has been a popular retreat since the 19th century. In summer, picnic on the lawn at Tanglewood, the Boston Symphony Orchestra's summer home. In fall, when foliage peaks, take to the hiking and biking paths of the Pleasant Valley Sanctuary to immerse yourself in the vibrant colors of the mountains. Winter visitors enjoy skiing at a number of resorts and cross-country trails, and in spring, hikers and golfers practice their pastimes in splendid settings. Rejuvenating treatments and pampering, at the well-known Cranwell Spa, are favored all year long.

This place was light filled with lots of different art. There were so many pieces I found attractive and interesting. Lots of glass which is a favourite, plus some metal and wood. The variety and quality was fabulous....definitely worth a visit for a browse or a special purchase!

I visited Andrew at the River Studio in Middlefield. The Sculpture Trail is truly breathtaking! There is something quite amazing about seeing Andrew's works in the place where they come to life. Although I so enjoyed the gallery and Andrew's many exhibitions, the River Studio is by far my favorite place!

On a roadtrip through the Berkshires decided to stop here for a few minutes. Ended up spending at least a couple of hours. The grounds are stunning and there is so much to explore from the formal gardens, trails through the woods and pet cemetery. I didn't even have time to tour the inside of the house, but I thoroughly enjoyed The Mount.

Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum

Reviewed By AmyTravel001 - New York City, United States

My mom and I recently visited Ventfort Hall and couldn’t believe we hadn’t been here before! We joined a tour led by docent Meg Williamson, who was just fantastic. Meg is a gifted storyteller who brought the home to life as we explored various rooms. You really feel as if you’re swept back in time, experiencing the home as the owners of this ‘little summer cottage’ would have. The restoration work that has been done on Ventfort is also incredibly impressive, and I was stunned to hear that there were plans to demolish/convert it at one point. Hats off to the team who rescued this gem! Already looking forward to returning next year for Summer Tea! Definitely put this one on your list if you have a free hour – take the tour and ask for Meg.
