We are a family owned and operated, local community art collective with diversity and vision. Made on site, we feature functional wood burl products, such as tables, bowls, plates, clocks, lamps, and boxes. We make metal art, fountains, mirrors, cribbage boards, vases, baskets, felt art, and so much more! We feature an onsite lapidary, Jay, who creates one of a kind cut gem stones. Sharing the workshop, Sarah is a jeweler creating custom and one of a kind jewelry fabrications. Located in Southern Humboldt County, California on the Avenue of the Giants. Come in and explore the arts and crafts of our local community. We will be adding featured local artists' work and new items often. Enjoy your experience viewing art in this beautiful atmosphere! Focusing on functional and fine art in a truly Humboldt setting. Located on the south side of Miranda on the Avenue of the Giants, perched on a hill surrounded by magnificent redwood trees. If you love wood, this is a place that the aroma of wood and oil will blissfully fill your nose and thus, your spirit as soon as you walk in the door, like walking into a coffee shop if you love coffee. So much beautiful stuff! The rocking chairs are truly a masterpiece. Very reasonable prices. Mom and I bought two beautiful bowls. Very much enjoyed talking with the young man behind the counter, then as we were talking, the artist himself came out and talked for awhile, he asked about my purchase, admired his work and praised my choice., talked about his craft, and even told me the answer to the frequently asked question of "how long does it take to make a piece like this one ?" The answer. It takes as long as it takes. Its done when its done. I LOVE that! Deeply enjoyed the brief time we had here, all the amazing art, and especially talking to the men who run this beautiful art gallery. Really enjoyed our visit. This is a MUST SEE!

Natural history museum known for its fine collection of fossils and its special programs tailored for kids.
Anyone interested in birds should come here to see a collection one feels must be extraordinary and complete for the Pacific Flyway. I was quite surprised. It's at the university and there were very helpful people there to clarify things for me.

A museum specializing in Humboldt County history with numerous Native American artifacts.
This building was absolutely beautiful and filled with amazing items to browse and learn more about Humboldt County, the rich Native American history of the area, and was staffed by friendly and helpful employees. The location was right in the middle of downtown which made it great for walkability and to be near many of the local attractions and restaurants.

This museum preserves the heritage of this still-thriving dairy community and its Victorian architecture.
We stayed at a local bed and breakfast and the hostess was on the board of the museum and arranged for a docent led tour at 9:00 am. This was great, as the museum usually doesn't open until 11:00 am; so we were able to visit for an hour and then get on our way. The docent was extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of the museum and as he showed us around he gave many anecdotal accounts about things and people in Ferndale, which just viewing the exhibits, would not have been included. We enjoyed the seismographs! A very old one was donated by a local college and the docent showed us how they changed the plate. In the old days, they didn't use paper and ink, instead they would "smoke" a plate and place it on the roller and a stylus would engrave through the smoked plate to leave the lines. He gave us a demonstration of how to smoke a plate; very interesting. They had laminated plates of several major earthquakes. The place is small and without a docent, you'd probably get through it in 15-30 minutes. With a knowledgeable leader, an hour went by quickly. They also have a small bookstore with some great books of the area, some major catastrophes and a few books by our hostess - which blended local history with some great recipes. Well worth spending some time here for a good look at local history.

Chapman's probably has the most extensive and amazing private gem and mineral collections in the country. "Buzz" Chapman traveled the world collecting for his own collection and for his store. An incredible collection in one place that is easy to view. Also a great store. If you like rocks, gems and minerals, you need to stop at Chapman's.
