I brought my senior leaders to this excellent museum in Horten, for a two hours guided tour in maritime history. The guide service was excellent! Eventhough I have served a lot of years in the Navy, there are always something new to learn. We finished the tour on board the submarine (Ex HNoMS Utstein). This is a place you must visit!

The Centre is located in the cultural park at Karljohansvern. The Centre took over the former infirmary of the navy and changed it into a museum exhibit comprising authentic surroundings and trades of the near past, such as cobbler workshop, forge, carpenter workshop, classroom, grocery store, to mention a few examples. The centre has its own reading room with library consisting of an archive of photographs, drawings, maps, newpapers, documents and books. The coffee shop is found at the mouth of the canal in beautiful surroundings at the inner harbour. Opening hours: Sunday 11-15 Entrance: NOK 1,-

Welcome to Midgard – the Viking era is here! Midgard Viking Centre offers knowledgeable and engaging guides who will take you through all our exhibits, the Viking Hall, the Borre park and the newly found Viking ship burial, combined with a great history lesson. Welcome to watch, read and use what you learn anout the Viking age with us. We wish to bring the Viking Age to life for our visitors. The center opened in 2000 and the Viking Hall opened in 2013, after finding evidence of possible guildhalls in the area in 2007. The center offers a great view of the majestic Borre park and mounds, which are the largest collection of monumental grave mounds from the Viking Age in northern Europe. The mounds in the Borre park were mentioned by Snorre Sturlason, who claimed that kings were burried here. The Viking Hall is a unique reconstruction of a royal guildhall from the Viking Age. Here at Borre chiefs and great men have lived and have been burried.
It was an arrangement for children in the Viking Garden/ Vikinghall and it a top arrangement with high activity for the children in learning new things, - fighting as a viking and to preper vikingfood.

The house is now a small museum, open to the public where everything has been retained as it was when the artist lived there. The original studio building has been pulled down, but another building has been erected on the same site. Edvard Munch painted many of his masterpieces in asgardstrand, such as The Bridge, Four girls in asgardstrand and The dance of Life. These are now on view in major international art galleries. Opening hours: May Saturday and Sunday 11:00-16:00 June-August Tuesday-Sunday 11:00-17:00 September Saturday and Sunday 11:00-16:00 Prices: Adults - NOK 50,- Seniors/students - NOK 30,- Children under 17 - free
Went here a saturday in september. Me and my friend were the only visitors at that point so we were given a private guided tour in the small house that used to be Munchs summer house. The guide knew so much! I thought I knew Munch, but I was wrong! I learned so much about this fascinating artist and I actually liked his Works even better after visiting this wonderful spot. The view from the small front porch alone makes one understand he kept the house for 50 years.
Various exhibitions.
