Australia’s third-largest city, Brisbane is the hub of Queensland culture, offering a peek at the past and a glimpse into the future. Visit the historic Windmill and Old Commissariat Store, built by convicts in 1828, or fast-forward to the present (and beyond) with a trip to the new Gallery of Modern Art. Mingle with locals atop Mount Coot-tha, cruise the Brisbane River to South Bank’s sandy beach on the City Cat and make sure to fill the cuteness quota at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, home to koalas and kangaroos.

Stepping through these doors, will offer a retreat that returns you to a seat of nostalgic pleasure & old world charm. The Elizabeth picture theatre tells us that you really can go back to those scenes of love, moments of rapture or to investigate crime; to be carried away & swept up into virtual worlds. Such wise, careful & clever decisions leave thoughts of what remains: ‘Cead mile failte’ - a hundred thousand welcomes is the Irish greeting that still hangs in the air. This beautiful heritage listed building dating back to 1878 has been beautifully & lovingly restored by the Sourris brothers & offers an intimate setting to view your favourite movies on her screens. From the Harp room to the Royal rooms, the Elizabeth picture theatre displays a regal bearing that brings it's audience great delight. The charm comes from so much exquisite, detail. This architectural design that holds so much art within it's walls, speaks of a Notable excellence, from the memorabilia, the posters, the lead light windows, and the ornamental plaster filigrees lining her ceilings. Everywhere you look she captures your eye. Perhaps it was quite befitting that ‘Promising young woman’ should be our first tickets bought.

Well this is our movie venue of choice. We have a Cinebuz seniors card and we get a movie deal from the card. (if you read my blog on the parking at Westfield) you will understand. Anyway, great choice of movies. You also have V Max and Gold Class. Enjoy.

We do movies differently - dinner, drinks & desserts made fresh and delivered to your comfy cinema seat during the movie.
This local cinema is family owned and have some fantastic deals on their website. Get reduced priced tickets for weekdays, the first sessions on weekends, as well as deals for food and the restaurant next door. The cinema seats are very roomy and there are footstools and blankets to use - amazing!

The cinema is wonderful, always assured of quality cinema with lots of choices; a much better feel than the multiplex options downtown in the mall. Seats are very comfortable and the location in James Street is ideal for a full day of films, eating and shopping. Some great festivals like the British Film Festival guarantee enjoyment.
