Every year thousands of hipsters, groupies, and die-hard fans flock to Austin for the annual South by Southwest festival, which has catapulted the Texas city up the must-visit charts for many travelers. The sandstone Capitol building is symbolic of the Lone Star State’s "bigger is better" mentality, featuring a gorgeous whispering gallery rotunda and 22 acres of grounds. Cool off with a dip in Barton Springs, a huge natural limestone pool that’s fed by underground sources.

The Violet Crown Cinema is a really cool place to experience films. It is in the heart of Second Street District where before or after the movie you can walk around checking out boutique shops and local eateries. There are a few parking garages nearby where one provides free parking for four hours and can enter on San Antonio Street between 2nd & 3rd Streets. I parked at Austin City Hall garage. We arrived early to our show so we could enjoy lunch at their cafe/bar. The place supports local businesses with food and drink choices. I ordered Grilled Cheese and a local draft beer. There is plenty of seating and even though can take your food with you in the cinema. The lobby bar is a great place to hang out. This is an artsy move theater where today we were seeing ‘1917’. The theaters are reasonably small but has great comfy chairs that recline. The sound and video are top notch. Once this virus outbreak dissipates will once again return.

We went for a movie and snacks on Christmas day. The staff here is exceptional. Very friendly and fast. The recliner type seats are perfect and all social distancing is followed. The food is good with refills on popcorn and sodas.

The Alamo setup a screening of the movie "Elf" during the holidays, and my wife and adult daughter took the movie in on Christmas Day. The staff was great with ordering food/drinks, the emcee was awesome as she got us all into the start of the movie, and the movie house was clean, comfortable, and enjoyable as we watched one of my favorite holiday movies. Go to the Alamo for a wonderful movie experience!

This is one of the best places in Austin to see a movie and have dinner. To be clear, this is not a cheap movie night, okay? There are places like that. This is a little more scene-y and upscale, complete with a bar and lounge area in the lobby. The bigger seats are worth the price, IMO. They are pretty comfortable, recline to the same degree that business class seats do on overseas flights and are more than large enough. Get tickets early. The seats are limited, the theater small and intimate so don't expect to walk up and get a great seat at the last minute. The service was great, the food was very good. The audio and picture quality are pretty stellar. They were also courteous enough to go and look after we had left when someone in our party could not find their phone. My wife and I really enjoyed the experience and will be back.

The earlier the better really is true for this place at $3/movie and then if it's just the one movie to watch like Ma, starring Octavia Spencer, a $5 movie is definitely not cheap, it's a great way to budget that in throughout a week. Our unit was 5 deep & for $25 we went home loud talking about our mini Adventure from within. Staff is always handy at the entrance. The concession choices are over- priced but reasonable if you just have to. So, I didn't ????Restroom facilities were clean and stocked. Location is also very accommodating unless you ride the bus., It's a little walk from the parking lot. Overall it's great.!

We have always enjoyed treating ourselves to a first-run movie at one of the Alamo Drafthouse locations. The Village has always been our favorite-- smaller and closer to home. Just went to Mueller Alamo for first time (for most of us) to see Wonder Woman. Great recliner seats. Good sound and visual. Very nice architecturally. Nice outdoor deck on upper floor with great view toward the city.

We were so happy to see a theater open so close to home and have such cool amenities. Similar to Moviehouse & Eatery and iPic with comfy, reclining seats, food service, and choose your own seat convenience, this new AMC theater is going to be my new spot! We were also pleasantly surprised that the seats can also be heated; warm or toasty as you prefer! ???? So cool!! Although we didn’t sample food this time, we saw them come to customers covered by plastic cloches to keep them warm. (Classy. ????) We are looking forward to seeing a movie in the Dolby theater as well! Nice, clean, and comfy for your movie going experience!
