Stayed here with my family years ago and loved the experience so I was excited to come back with my husband and it did not disappoint! The bonfires on the beach are definitely the highlight, so cozy with beautiful views and complimentary s’more bags! The breakfast is decent compared to what a lot of places offer these days (eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffle makers). No the rooms aren’t 5-star hotel quality but they are clean, comfortable, quiet and they seem to have been updated some since my last stay. All in all I 100% will continue to choose this place any time I travel to mackinaw and highly recommend to anyone considering it!

We stayed here because the sign said they served breakfast. We'd been having a hard time finding any places open for dine-in breakfast, so this was a lure. Later, we found out that the "breakfast" was a box, which needed to be taken to the room. I don't know if there would have been enough food in it for three people. We chose not to eat it. We stayed in the Secret Garden room. The decorations were pretty. The room was adequate. The a/c worked fine, and didn't give us any problems. We happened not to use the bathtub. But the sink was ok, as near as we could tell. The little garden down below our room was very pretty, and nicely maintained. Since we didn't intend on staying for more than one night, we were happy enough with the accommodations. There were creepy-crawlies in various places outside our room, but we didn't find any inside. If we had, we would have left immediately, as I am arachnophobic. The view from our room was ok. There is an enormous mansion being built (or maybe renovated) across the street from the hotel, so the "view" of the Straits is non-existent. But if you want to see how gazillionaires live, then you get a glimpse by looking at this house! LOL! I'd say the room is average. I doubt we'd stay here again, just because we don't get to Mackinaw City often and by the time we get there next this place might be gone.

The staff are so nice, thankful, cheerful and appreciative. We had a few things in the room that needed to be fixed and they came right up and took care of it. Mattresses are brand new and sooo comfortable. The gal at the front desk made sure we knew where to get breakfast the next morning.

When we checked in we noticed stains on the comforter and sheets. We asked for the bedding to be changed. When we returned in the evening they put the clean sheets and comforter on the table in the room, left the dirty ones on the bed. My family and I had to change the sheets ourselves!! When we tried talking to the manager when checking out the next morning she blew us off and dismissed us, no apologies did not even try to remedy the situation!

Had to reach over the counter to reach the buzzer to get someone's attention. It looks ok from the outside. Inside, it stunk, slept with the window open and the heat cranked. Clean on the surface. Only hotel room available in Mackinaw City. The wifi and the tv didn't work. Breakfast was a joke. Frozen mini muffins where anyone could touch them. A total disappointment. Will not stay here again.

We read the reviews and chose this hotel for our trip. My goodness it was awful. The front desk was just about the most unfriendly but I’m open minded people have bad days. After seeing the hotel from the outside my husband said we better look at it before we lug all the luggage up the stairs. Boy was he right! The wallpaper was falling off the wall hanging down about a foot and the air conditioner was duct taped in! The bathroom was filthy with an old dirty blue bathtub and it looked like a crime scene! We went back to the desk and said we couldn’t stay. She said we were welcome to go down the road to the sister hotel but we would not be getting a refund. The sister hotel wasn’t much better…it was pretty dirty also so I would avoid these hotels if you can. Seriously they have not been updated since the late 70s. They were simply awful and completely depressing. Had they refunded the money so we could go down the street to anything better I wouldn’t have left this review but you need to be warned. It was simply horrible. ?
