Reviews on Moroccan food in Taroudant, Souss-Massa-Draa Region, Morocco. Enclosed by ramparts, Taroudant is the epitome of a Moroccan market town. Engage in friendly bargaining at a souk in one of the two main squares, then revive your spirit with a soak at an authentic hammam steam bath. Take a day trip to the refreshing Tioute Oasis, birdwatch at Souss Massa National Park, or enjoy an evening of Berber folk music under the stars.

I had a big party here 10 years ago - took over the whole hotel for 3 days. Absolutely amazing. Perfect. Inexpensive. 26 double room suites; huge tent at the back where the party was; fabulous gardens and lux pool. 40 mins from Taroudant towards the High Atlas mountains. Converted Pasha's palace that was once owned by a Danish aristocrat so is full of Danish and European furniture and books, mixed in with the very Moroccan décor. Extremely special and I visit as often as I can. Highly recommended.
We three are travelling off tourist season beginning of November) and it seems that most restaurants and even some hotels are closed. The Agence restaurant was closed so we decided on trying a pretty garden we had seen on our travels. It ended up being already on TA's books with good reviews so we chose to eat last night there. We were not disappointed! The garden is under canopies so kept the rain off. A fairly loud large tv was blairing the sports channel in the corner so we sat in the opposite corner by the (well used) prayer mat.The menu looked plain with the basics but at good prices. We need not have worried! We ordered a half chicken, mixed meat combi and a sausages with mixed and Moroccan salads too accompany (specifying sausages salad without tomatoes).Unfortunately because (maybe it was off season) at the end of the evening a whole page of menu was off, including the tagines (previously lauded in TA). A pity. An excuse to come earlier the next day though! The food came in good time and was very generous for the price! A compartmentalised plate with the meat, salad on one section and thin crispy potato chips on another! Advocacy and banana juices to accompany. The food was very tasty (sausages in a spicy cumin dry sauce) and the selection of grilled meats was great. The chicken was good too. On finishing we totted up the bill in our heads to 150 plus tips. It turned out the meals included the meats and salad so 20 (sos), 30 (mixed), 50 (chick), 3 x12 juices (big!) was MAD136! We rounded up for the attentive waiter's tips. No rip off here!No hasslers either here btw as off the road and main squares.Excellent.
Stopped here as part of a small tour group visiting Taroudant. Great relaxing place - a few lovely curtained and furnished Bedouin tents in the grounds. Would have been good to have gone back for lunch there and given that a try. Lovely staff .

We have read the previous reviews in trip advisor / lonely planet and so we were really looking forward to eat in Chez Nada. After looking quite long for the location we were disappointed, when the location was found. The restaurant seems quite run down and badly managed. The location was not really clean and the menu card was quite basic, so the decision was made not to eat in the restaurant.

Mohammed makes any traveller over the Tizi n Teste pass a warm welcome with mint tea, but don't leave without tasting his Berber omelette and Moroccan salad. This restaurant also has accommodation for the more hardy. It is very high on top of an escarpment looking out over the plains below. The views are stunning. The hotel/restaurant is 135km from Marrakech and 87km from Taroudant.

The Jnane Soussia Restaurant is located just outside the old city walls of Taroudant, surrounded by a semi-oasis. This is a very relaxed atmosphere restaurant that seems to be very traditional Moroccan styled. The restaurant is surround by an abundance of landscaping including date palms, many fruit trees, etc. There are two nice pools in the center of the open terrace. Plus there are two old âtentâ looking dining areas which seem to be very artistic; authentic and very pleasing to the eye. There food is good, very authentic Moroccan in taste and flavor. Too much cuscus for my pallet. The service is good. Being this is a restaurant and not connected to a hotel they are not allowed to serve alcohol or alcoholic beverages. All-in-all it was a very pleasant afternoon lunch.

Dar Zitoune propose a blend of European and Moroccan dishes. Lunch is a menu à la carte, as far as dinner is concerned its a set menu with vegetarian options. The finest food to be found in the entire region. The meals are served in the dinning room , pri
I have reviewed the restaurant a number of times now and my opinion does not change. The food is of the highest standard, well cooked and presented, served with efficiency. It was nice to see our favourites appearing on the menu especially paella and a wonderful pineapple carpaccio with shrimps. On our two weeks stay we do not eat outside the hotel . When we are getting the best why risk anywhere else.

Like others, we were delighted by the quality of the food--really super tasting salad-mezes of pumpkin and green beans and herbs that we dont know the names of--and a truly wonderful tajine - we had lamb without regrets. This was all followed by a pastry with nuts and custard. We had ordered a bottle of decent red wine. And all this was served in the spectacular courtyard of a beautifully restored building. We were assured that nothing leftover was going to be wasted, but even so there was simply too much food--nine large servings of the mezes, and enough meat in the tajine for four: we were but two. So not a complaint, but an observation: the price is high perhaps because there is too much food. Even the table of young men adjacent to us failed to manage more than half the meze starter.
